Share the Cultural Customs of Any Country

Re: Share the Cultural Customs of Any Country

I guess Muay Thai is 6 limbs. :konfused: I wan’t 2 learn it but its far away from my home

Re: Share the Cultural Customs of Any Country

Nope merey bhai it’s 8.

2 hands + 2 feet + 2 elbows + 2 knees.

You can learn it very easily in Muay Boran (ancient version of Muay Thai) your allowed to do anything… like head butts, bites, rakes, gouges just about anything that lets you win.

In the Sport version Muay Thai (Thai Boxing) your only allowed to use 8 limbs and no savage underhand tactics.

If your dedicated to learn it maybe I could help teach you the very basics online or even better if your serious I could send you details of clubs, set up a training regime, give you some tips and even help share some nasty moves.

Basically Muay Thai is fought using the 8 different striking limbs but what makes me really good at it is that I am a clinch fighting expert. The clinch is when two fighters come together very close and grapple as they grab the back of each others necks and try and throw the other chap while repeating several knee strike attacks.

Muay Thai is a very brutal sport though and totally unforgiving if you want to learn it then I am happy to help you. By the way the Sport is fastly growing due to it’s popularity in MMA and other fighting competitions. However this is also ruining the ancient art and Muay Boran in its true form is dying, in Southern Thailand there is a belt of coastal schools that teach the new sports style fighting art but it’s also very expensive however if you go to Northern Thailand not only will you learn the styles in thier classical form but it will be much cheaper.

Outside Thailand you can still learn Muay Thai so long as your commited to a strict excercise regime and seriously take things on board. It’s a thinking mans fighting style so you really do need your witts about you… Muay Thai is a very hard martial art but its also very effective and utterly ruthless. :faris:

Re: Share the Cultural Customs of Any Country

:hat: Faris Bhai! my two fav sports are football and martial arts. But unfortunately i never get time to learn both at professional level. Like i said the Muay Thai club is far from my house so it is not possible for me to spare the time to learn it. However, i was interested in ‘Kyushinkai’ martial arts and that is also far from my home.

The next nearest club is of ‘Taekwondo’ and in it the legs r used more than hands.

Re: Share the Cultural Customs of Any Country

Yeah Tae Kwondo is very good but if I was you I would try whatever style I was most comfortable with. Not everyone is good at punching, not everyone is good at kicking… soem people are built differently while others think differently.

Just give whatever you want to try a go. It doesn’t really matter what style it is as long as it works.

Maybe I should open up some Martial arts threads in the Health and Fitness section. I just dont get the time to co-ordinate a good post on the subject theres so much hard research required on so many different threads and topics I am often buried in books. I will love to post some Martial arts related threads… Maybe I will this Thursday Insha Allah.

For now I’m tired so please forgive me LKK bhai I have duties to attend to :waves:

Take care, Allah hafiz.
