*True Inzy did not do real justice to his natural talent but he was still a brilliant player under pressure. Partly because of his poor record against Aus and RSA and partly because of his lazy demeanour (running between the wickets etc.) in the field, Inzi’s name is not mentioned in the same breath as Sachin, Lara or Ponting.
Still no sane person would bracket Inzy and Afridi together

Afridi is an exceptionally talented player who never fulfilled his immense potential.
Amongst the current crop which consists mostly of mediocre players, he can be considered great but not as great as other legends have been.
In terms of ability, yes he is great,
In terms of fulfilling that promise and achievements, no way near those greats.

Great players are 'great' because of their consistency and their desire to fight against all odds. Afridi is more of a boom boom brand..likes to play his own game regardless of the situation.
He has the potential to win you a match with 10 mohala players but you can't count on him..hence a very ordinary guy.

The naysayers are missing a key point. If Afridi had not been unfortunate to get out when he did each occasion he would have ended up with an excellent batting record.
