Sexual Orientation: In The Brain

Re: Sexual Orientation: In The Brain

Yeah, when people say the don't like or approve of the gay 'lifestyle', what are they talking about? Their flair for fashion? Their druthers for disco music? Their penchant for pizazz? Their disposition to decorating? Their sensitivity? Their proneness to like musicals? Their love of Judy Garland? Or are you thinking about what they do in their bedrooms? Because if it is then I think many people can say they don't like or condone the lifestyle of Muslims becuause they can sex with 4 different women. What goes on in the bedroom is just a miniscule part of who we are and really shouldn't be judged by others.

Re: Sexual Orientation: In The Brain

Faisal: Well said. :k:

For my part, I don’t decide whether I like someone based upon sexual preference. I would decide to like a gay person or not like a gay person on the same basis as I would decide to like or dislike a straight person. However, I don’t condone and very much disapprove of the gay lifestyle. I consider it abnormal and not alternative.

Whether being gay is a choice like mashed potatoes versus french fries or rather has a biological underpinning changes nothing. Even if there is a biological or genetic component, it is still abnormal. When genes mutate and cause physical deformities, most people have no problem using the word abnormal to describe the physical deformity. Soon as you use that word to describe the gay lifestyle, the left-wing “political correctness” crowd automatically labels you as intolerant and a hate-monger.

Re: Sexual Orientation: In The Brain

seminole: people already do, so whats the biggie.

Re: Sexual Orientation: In The Brain

Ma Mooli - I didn't even consider that. Now that they know a trigger, I wonder if there would be a reason to look for a "cure" assuming one can be found.

Re: Sexual Orientation: In The Brain

Faisal I understand what you say however places like Sanfransisco have a large majority of gay people with a gay culture that has evolved and become flamboyantly expressive... which is so very different to the majority of the rest of the world. even noew i would say that the larger percentage of gay people in the world have to hide who tehy are, I would say a substantial amount have had NO gay sexual encounters...they hide it, marry, have kids etc and are never happy... may even have unhappy marriages, and that makes the life of the wife unhappy and then probably the kids too

In society that shuns gays, the gay people are encouraged to live tehir lives as heterosexual men, I would be horrified if I had been introduced to a man, married him and found out he was gay.... and im sure other women would feel the same.

but do they have any other options?

^ Give it a couple a years minah, am sure they'll find a way to filter the pre-optic area in the hypothalamus from the pheromones, that may be responsible for the confusion.

Re: Sexual Orientation: In The Brain

Talk about stereotyping. You make it sound like gay people are like Dorothy skipping along the yellow brick road. Frankly, Seminole, you seem to stereotype gay people much more than some of us who don’t approve of the lifestyle. Some gay people may have a flair for fashion and others might like a torn pair of levis. Some may be sensitive and some may not. Go visit the thread about the gay German guy who killed his homosexual sex partner with a screwdriver, cut up the body and froze the body parts for dinner.

Hetero or Homo, there’s positives and negatives in each of us individually far more than there are good or bad group traits in us. Gays are not more sensitive, fashion conscience or anything else just because they are gay. As a group, what gays share is a deviant and abnormal lifestyle.

Re: Sexual Orientation: In The Brain

^ MV, what happened ot your sense of humor..I think Semi was just making a point via sarcasm.

Re: Sexual Orientation: In The Brain

myvoice, you don't know many gay people, do you?

If God makes 7-10% of his people homosexual, how can that be abnormal? Only 2-5% of Americans are born with red hair. Are they abnormal as well?

Re: Sexual Orientation: In The Brain

Great point Seminole.

Re: Sexual Orientation: In The Brain

Being the old, decrepit codger that I am, I have met and known quite a few gay men and women in my life. Some have been fine people and others have been jerks. Some have good senses of humor and some are rude and crude. Just like in the general heterosexual population. I’ve even publicly socialized with some gay people whose company I enjoyed.

Whether I liked them as people or not, they still live a deviant and abnormal lifestyle. To my knowledge, red haired people don’t live a different lifestyle than brunettes. Maybe blonds, but certainly not brunettes.

Re: Sexual Orientation: In The Brain

I think you mean "deviant" as in the late 19th century meaning "different" not "deviant" with a negative connotation attached to it. If that was the case, I would consider most people who out of major metro areas in the US, "deviants"

Re: Sexual Orientation: In The Brain

That is precisely what I said to UTD in the beginning of this discussion. People can like/dislike other lifestyles on a multitude of factors. It doesn’t automatically mean you dislike the person as well, though. And I am fully prepared that many people (including many on this forum) may not (or do not) approve of Islamic lifestyle, including hijab, fasting, prayers, following Quran etc. I am sure a lot of people have dislike Islam or christianity or hinduism or judaism or satan-worshippers or what not. If they are willing to talk it through, fine, if they just want to dislike, its their choice. You can’t force anyone to like something. And the same freedom goes all ways, including homosexuality.

At the same time, we all agree its not ok to discriminate or resort to violence against anyone based on their race, religion, ehtnicity or sexual orientation.

ps. Though on the issue of having sex with 4 women, I know this is not the topic of this discussion, but lets just say that firstly its not the recommended way, and secondly atleast in Islam people have to go through a marriage contract, and cannot have sex with multiple partners at one time. In most western world, people must go through a divorce to marry another person, still have multiple mistresses and even have sex with multiple partners at the same time. From a moral standpoint, which is more acceptable?
