Ok but fistly Islam doesnt repress your desires...it gices you a different avenue to express them ie marriage...Islam doesnt ask you to repress your desires it asks for self control...theres a big difference...

Christians actually encourage celibacy on their priests which is repression of desires...Islam recognises that sex is important...we all have an instinct to procreate...it just doesnt encourage us to get some everytime we get horny...

i completely agree with you and i should add, i meant to say we are NOT saying that sex is bad!!!i am just saying that sexual liberation - i.e. uncontrolled sex, i.e. thinking of sex and having sex w/out any inhibitions is not necessarily good for soceity.

I think sex should be a private affair - whether its via marriage for those who believe in god and believe in marriage, or via a reltionship, or even if ppl randomly have sex with random ppl (STD's aside) i think its thier bussiness, its thier belief.

The concept of "sexual liberation" (in my opinion) is that we should not have any reservations about sex, it should not be a private affair. We should liberate ourselves to talk about and even do it openly. i think the notion of sexual liberation promotes the idea that sex should not just be reserved to the bedroom - hence i think in "sexually liberated" societies you see sex all over TV. infact, just as an example, i wwas watching saturday night live, and MADDTV and its become such filth! I remember when it used to be funny, now its all sexually laden... i mean its not even funny!!! I dont know if anyone knows Abercrombie and fich, i recall when i used to work there, okay yea..they hired ppl who loked a certain way...but it was the jock look (which i was completely not) and granted that was ages ago...or so i feel but now its naked boys...its like gay porn!

And PS!! this whole notion that men need sex! or else they will go crazy BS!!!!!!
there is no scientific evidence for it!! its a very controllable urge! so please dont tell me that a man cant control himself! ah u can...and u better if u are a man! b/c otherwise its called rape - if its not consented to!!!! and doesnt matter if its your wife! the laws are incredibly strict. so u better beware.

To be honest...the whole point of an instinct is it needs to be fulfilled...so men and women both need sex...the level of your sex drive determines how important it is...if your insticnt isnt fulfilled you become dissatisfied and unhappy...
