Re: Sewing machines

Very well organized! Thanks for sharing.

Are you making a quilt?

Re: Sewing machines

I have Husqvarna Viking sewing machine. The stitches are a part of machine system but embroidery designs are saved in a disc like grapes bunch, a cat, differnet patterns of flower etc. The disc has 20 patterns of designs by using that u can make embroidery, there is a book come with the machine u can select the design and customize the pattern and buy a new disc, I buy it in 2003 from Joann and it cost me $ 1000.

Re: Sewing machines

Muscat99, do you know how to make kali walee kameez, the one that has 2 panels in the front and 2 panels in the back. and these panels are all the way from the shoulders to the bottom.

I would like to know how to cut this style to wear with churidaar. Can you help pls?

Re: Sewing machines

I gotta learn how to sew. It's so freakin' useful. Idk where to start though. =/

Re: Sewing machines

so for the ladies who sew, I am looking for a reasonably priced sewing machine. Any suggestion.. like $100-120ish price range

Re: Sewing machines

Check walmart.com. There are several nice machines, and some with free shipping to store, or .97 cents shipping to home.

This machine is slightly over your price range, but with the features included, it is worth the extra money.

This machine is the bare minimum, but part of the frustration beginners have is with the machine limitations.

Very helpful videos here:

You can see all of her videos through her page, or some of them on youtube.

Re: Sewing machines

I’ve never made one but it seems similar to the princess cut dress. Maybe you can look through the videos on this page?

Re: Sewing machines

Muscat99, she only shows the dress and talks about the material. I think her tutorial videos are for members only. I have just started sewing and only sewing to make some loose maternity dresses from dupattas and I get stuck at a few places so need hints.

I might become a full paying member when I do dresses for myself on a more regular basis.

Re: Sewing machines

This is a GOOD idea! Wow. Then, you can check youtube. She has posted many videos there, and so have other people. Sewing will be mostly trial and error in the beginning, but you’ll learn from your mistakes. Be sure to press and iron well! Look at your current clothes, or clothes in shops, to get ideas about how they are put together. You can also look at pattern websites, such as simplicity, vogue, McCalls, etc. Most clothes are made simply. It is the finishing details that makes the difference.
