I think your story is one of those false internet stories that people read and say "aww" to and then send them on to two hundred and fifty three people in the next hour otherwise they will get a good dose of bad luck just like Jimmy from Carlise who didnt sent it on to that many people purely because he had no friends and ended up breaking his leg, driving over his wife and poisoning his dog with a an old chicken sandwhich....
