I think discussions should just evolve nicely. serious doesn't have to be painful or angry...perhaps a little academic, or thoughts/concerns or why not hopes? Humour is often agreat ancedote to some of the harshest realities of life, don't beat yourself up..or let others berate you. Just be you, that is enough... and it is natural and effortless! Keep smiling, it is an act of charity!

Actually...here is a serious question Aishah, why, do I find these sites a little 'frosty' towards me, which is in sharp contrast the most amazing warmth and welcome I ever experienced in Pakistan?

Alhamdulillah! Sadly the only people I know who have been or lived there were not muslims and could not easily understand my stance on the Islamic perspectives. They did value the culture, but kind of saw the Islamic restrictions (more noticeable during Ramadam) as invasive. A sad reflection on western ideology where 'western' values should brush away old established and valued beliefs of populations indigineous to countries. Of corse not all westerners are like that but it is always disappointing when it is.
I would love to visit one day, and Inshallah so would my husband. Have you lived there long?
