While my heart goes out to the injured and the families of those killed, I sincerely think that it is time to introspect and understand the reasons for this madness. It is time the national leaders all joined together and condemn this senseless violence. Sunni and Shia leaders should issue a joint appeal and anybody propagating violence should be arrested and thrown away in jail and the key thrown away.

**A suicide bomber attacked a Shi’a Muslim religious procession around midnight on Wednesday in the Pakistani military hub of Rawalpindi, killing 23 people and injuring over 60 others (AP, BBC,CNN, NYT, Guardian). The Taliban later claimed responsibility for the attack, as well as two earlier bombs detonated outside a Shi’a mosque in the port city of Karachi, which killed one person and wounded at least 15 others.

**Then, early on Saturday, a roadside bomb in the northwestern Pakistani town of Dera Ismail Khan ripped through another Shi’a Muslim religious procession early on Saturday, killing at least seven - including four children - and wounding at least 30 others (NYT, AP, Reuters, BBC, Guardian,CNN). Participants of the processions were observing Ashura, an annual ten-day mourning period during which Shi’a Muslims remember the killing of Imam Hussein in the 7[SUP]th[/SUP] century. **On Sunday, a second blast shook Khyber Pakhtunknwa Province’s Dera Ismail Khan, when a bomb hidden in a bicycle repair shop killed five people and injured over 70 others (CNN, BBC, AP,Reuters, LAT). Pakistani authorities have deployed thousands of additional police officers, and suspended mobile phone services during the weekend in major cities across the country in an effort to reduce the likelihood of attacks on the Ashura processions (Reuters, BBC).

These are not sectarian attacks . These are terrorist attacks
I admit that Mulla and Madrissas of a sect are most involved but generally there is no clash between the sects in Pakistan . You are empowered to change but pleaee give it some other name . This gives a very bad and negative impression .

I am making the list who could be slapped for this . The tounders of terrorists . Creator and supporters of ethnic and religious groups and their puppets . Rehman Malik is also a broker imposed by them , many more I remember my childhood when we were all the time happy in Aashoora . I understand how U feel, I too remember my childhood when I used to help out my dad in arrangements of a sabil during the 10days of Muharram. And the duas we used to recieve for our actions. the love that flowed around with the sense of sadness was heart warming.
Today as a middle-aged man, I have come to terms what this Matam is all about, That makes me wait the whole year for this span of two months and 8 days. Sitting in Majalis, listening nohas in shab bedaris, and doing matam is something which make me feel as a better human being.
Shame on those who are behind these attacks, its high time we unite against extremism of any group, be it muslim, hindu or any one else.

LOL, ya, but at least hindus are fools when it comes for worshipping cows, and being fool doesnt hurt anyone at least. But making an icon of anyone who is driven by hatred towards a certain giroh of ppls, and that too just because of their faith, is a more serious and unforgivable crime in my views.
