Having a long beard shouldnt be considered equal to radicalism, **but the **govt. which imposed the crub seems to think that having long beard could promote radicalism in their country.
Well, we might have been mixing up these terms of radicalism, extremism and terrorism since people hear it from various sources and even those who use these words appear to be confused.
1- Radicalism may be close to extremism but certainly is not terrorism.
Radicalism as it is perceived by many people should be considered as benign. Safe.
There are so many religious people from different religions who may be considered radicals....strictly following one or more tenets of religion.
Could it be that certain govt. are trying to force people to become moderate religious people and using these false pretext of extremism?
Everyone knows there are only handful bad people compared to vast and vast majority who sport a long beard who are great citizens of any society. Even these govt. know (or I hope so).
2- Extremists and terrorists do come from different background including people who have no beard. This is also a known fact.
3- This discussion has happened in two threads in the context of a brainless Supreme Court justice in India making similar false connection.
I dont agree to it in principal, but if they can successfully check radicalismby doing this, than it should be considered a small price to pay for lives of innocent muslims.
I think you are trying to say extremism and terrorism.
Off course this should be the goal for everyone to try to stop any such horrible acts. But as it can be seen, the connection is false and it really would not help in achieving the goal to have everyone be forced to cut short the beard or become clean shave.
Fundamental problem lies in mixing with what is perceived as a religious act by some is considered extremism by others.
Sikhs, some sects of christians as well as Jews also sport beard based on their religious beliefs and they should be allowed to.
Perhaps more people should sport long beard to show it is a harmless act based on personal choice..:-)
I couldnt agree more on that, but if any such thing is done to save life of innocent ppls and it works, than it should be welcome. Religion is something much more than mere keeping a long beard.
Peace.
Please make sure we understand that we are only talking about having or not having beard or its length.
Nope. Making people shave has never been shown to save anyone's life. Just like having beard has never been to assure the person is a killer.
You know very well there have been and are people who have taken lives of countless people while they were clean shave.
I will not discuss what is religious and what is not. This is besides the point since if nothing else it should be respected as a personal choice. Very personal.
