I've read once that during miraadj a wealth of knowledge was given to our Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) about the Universe. But certain things aren't important for human beings to know and thus he wasn't ordered to tell us. He was given an understanding of many things which we aren't supposed to question and let rest.
I have no idea if that is true though and unfortunately I don't know where I read it since it was long ago.
