If it's just one marriage.......why would you want to keep it a secret? What would be the point of that? It's very hard to keep something like that a secret. You might be tight-lipped about it....but what if your spouse lets their family members and friends know about this "secret" marriage???? Once somebody else knows about it.........it may not stay a secret for long. That's the thing about secrets. A secret is more of a secret if it only stays within you. As soon as you tell someone....you give that person the power to do whatever they want with the confidential information.
Plus what about documents that would require you to indicate your relationship status??? What if you get into trouble for lying on them?
If you're talking about being polygamous in secret..............I think that just leaves a bad taste in the mouth. I've heard that it's not necessary to seek first wife's permission to get married......but there's a thing called courtesy. I doubt that many men would appreciate their wives having such secrets from them.
Secrecy about something that's supposed to be good.......just give it an altogether shadiness. The amount of pressure that both partners may go through in keeping the marriage a secret could eventually take its toll on the relationship.

I swear I have story for almost every scenario - I think my acquaintances are a little khiskay huway.
Anyhoooo, back in the home country where doosri shaadi is permissable, my second cousin (old enough ot be my father) did exactly that. He married according to his father's wishes when he married his first wife. Everyone thought they were happy.
His job required him to travel and he ended up marrying a woman he worked with. He hid his second wife from the family right until she was about to have a baby.
Then all hell broke loose. It's been about 18-19 years since his second marriage and he's miserable with both of his wives (the first one didn't divorce him). The ladies obviously can't tolerate each other and they squabble over his money more than his time.
Moral of the story - jo karna hai, khullam khulla karo.
