Searching for a conspiracy/ Iraq blasts (MERGED)

.. because I cant believe fellow Muslims would support and perform this murder.

i hope there is some third party that is doing this, perhaps the americans to divide us.. so atleast the blame doesnt fall on those who will support this. so atleast those who support this will also be victims of duplicity.. and thus.. in some way.. less reprehensible.

inna lillahi wa inna ilehi rajioon.

mods, please decide if this is suitable for WA or religion.

105 people killed.

why?

how the feck is this part of the "freedom movement"?

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi rajioon. What’s happening to this country.

The article states that there were six explosions in Karbala, and “at least” four in Baghdad. They all went off approximately around the same time. Not to state the obvious, but whoever it is - doesn’t seem like a ragtag bunch of rebels. They know what they are doing and they will patiently do their planning for weeks to execute their actions.

Your search for a conspiracy theory is understandable :flower1: But i think it would be even worse if there were ‘local’ elements participating with a third party. That makes them more reprehensible, not less, at least in my eyes.

This is terrorism pure and simple. But I have always noted a couple of things when these "sectarian" attacks have occurred in the last year or so, after the fall of Saddam.

1) These acts of murder have totally failed in igniting any sort of fighting between Shia and Sunni's as is always claimed the intention is.

2) The people targeted i.e. the Shia's always end up blaming the American's, as I saw on the BBC earlier.

One has to ask, with the Shia's rightfully hungry for power, and the occupiers apprehensive of handing over to them, who benefits most from dividing the Iraqi's? Divide and rule?

certainly the will to execute these actions isnt lacking in 'local' elements. certainly AQ isnt famous for its kindliness towards the group of Muslims targeted here.

and as far as if it would have been worse that way.. i guess i was looking for some excuse to keep thinking that shias are wrong to not look at the bigger picture and forget infighting when the crunch comes (crunch = iraq , hypothetically).

i have notions of unity that just seem to be out of synch with real world "islam".

its very real. the violence. the unity. not so much.

:) very sad.

This is pure and simple terrorism and has no justification whatsoever. May Allah give the families of those killed the strength to bear this loss. The perpetrators of this crime should not go unpunished.

One question though: Surely the people in charge of Iraq knew something like this might happen? Where were their security measures? Or is there more to it than meets the eye.

140+ killed by Iraq Blasts!

As many as 100 people have been killed in blasts targeting Iraqi Shias as they celebrated one of their holiest days in the cities of Karbala and Baghdad.
At least 30 people were killed and hundreds wounded in Karbala, and as many as 75 died in Baghdad in attacks that appeared to be coordinated.

BBC correspondents in Karbala described scenes of panic and said the atmosphere of the city was extremely tense.

Security had been tight for fear the festival of Ashura would be targeted.

This was the first time in decades that Iraq’s majority Shia community had been able to freely observe the holy day.

More than a million people had flocked to the holy city of Karbala - 80km (50 miles) south of Baghdad - to commemorate the death of Imam Hussein in 680.

Scores killed in Iraq Shia blasts

Obviously some sick people trying to split the country along ethnic lines, people mentioned the American agenda to have a A Kurdish enclave in the North, a Sunni enclave and a Shia region in the South.

in pakistan theres army/rangers/police posted at the smallest of imambargahs every year.

im sure this year was no exception.

:(

Inna lillahi wa inna elahi raji'oon.

This is truly a sick day .. they've attacked in Pakistan too, murdering dozens of innocents there as well.

Inna lillahi wa inna elahi raji'oon.

Its a sad day for all muslims, and especially for our Shia brethren. One thing is sure; who ever has done that has been helping to prolong the occupation of the country.

This is what the US wants anyway, because they know with a Shia majority government their days of control would be over.

Sir ji how can we forget what the USA wants. This is all happening because of what the US wanted.

But someone is knowingly messing up with the bees, and the bees don’t care who is Polish, British, Japanese, Sunni or American, they are going to bite sooner or later.

Wrong, this is not what the U.S. wants, the govt. is being turned over in 4 months, good luck.

Inna lillahi wa inna elahi raji'oon.

I would like this too. ...however my prediction is in 4 mnths time due to sectarian unrest, or some thing along those lines the US Govt will not just handover, UTD see you in 4 months.

Sir ji I really don’t know what the sunnis of Iraq want, but at least they don’t want to kill the majority shias, it’s very hard to understand this relationship. Unless some one else sees this as a threat and wants to drag the legitimate authority into it.

Ohh and just because a sunni regime has done that before, that is not an excuse. If past actions were held accountable then the discussion would go stray. So lets stick wit the US as the legitimate authority in Iraq, since its legitimate (earned through occupation) everything going on in Iraq is US responsibility. The US knew it was a mess, but they still wanted to come here, so I think it’s going to get messier.

My bad, I think the US should be responsible for only neutralizing threats to Israel and protecting Oil reserves in the middle east. The rest are just local issues, and why the US should get involved in it, its not their mess anyway.

So when are they going back? ohh they are not going back either.? Then they must have a plan, and since they are in-charge, its must be their plan, right?

To shed a little light on the subject from an Iraqi blogger, Ashura had been banned so long that many young people had never seen it. His comments from a couple of days ago below:

"The scenes I saw today are things I have never seen before, my mother and uncles would tell me about them but the event was banned. I, my mother and cousin will be going to Karbala for a week. I hope I will be able to take pictures and blog from there. This is of such significance to Shia in Iraq this year it should not be missed. You said freedom of expression? Well, this event is going to test the boundaries of this freedom. You can bet your arse that the Sunnis will see this year’s Ashura as a provocation and you can bet your friend’s arse that the Shia will use it to provoke. Poking the hornets’ nest is a very close image. So we be there wearing black and a pious beard with a camera in hand. "

Freedom of religious espression apparently has a high price.

Osama and friends are smiling. It is their stated goal to kill all shias. They hate shias more then jews or christians.

Sir ji why the mantra of "back then" "back then", the US also existed back then. So lets face the ground reality, the US is in-charge in Iraq. They are responsible for every thing, which goes on there. If they don’t want to take the responsibility, then its simple all they have to do is go. Let the feud takes its toll.

I really don’t want it both ways, it’s the US administration who wanted Saddam out, the WMD out, it’s the US which wanted to occupy, they thought that was the only way they can change the middle east, so that’s the price. So now do you think the Kuwaitis should be held responsible for this killing? Yes if they were in-charge I would held them responsible.

Imdad Ali, you must have had a BT from Osama. The last I heard they have several Shia's held at gitmo.
