Venal businessmen luring Kashmiri girls into flash trade?
Police have begun investigations into the reports that some businessmen
from outside the state are luring Kashmir girls on different pretexts
and forcing them into prostitution.
Police have recently recovered a 18 years old girl of Saidakadal from
Jammu who was kidnapped by a businessman Manmohan Singh hailing from
Punjab.
Following a tip off that a girl was missing, cops from Rainawari police
station launched a massive hunt. All the police stations across state
were alerted. During this process Jammu police raided a hotel and
arrested Singh and recovered the girl. The girl was sent for medical
examination and the accused was handed over to Rainawari police station.
Medical examination report of the girl revealed that she has been raped.
Police Rainawari have registered a case under section 366 and 376 RPC
vide FIR 90/2000 against Singh. During investigation, it was revealed
that some businessmen from outside the State were running this syndicate
for a quite some time.
Police sources said the police are in process of gathering further
details and raids on the possible brothels is imminent. According to
them, the illegal syndicate has spread its tentacles in nook and corner
of the valley and is operating here for a quite long time.
“They are using them as comfort girls. We are on the job and in a few
days we are planning raids on different business houses which we suspect
are abetting the flesh trade”, said a police source.
Insiders maintain that number of hotels are also involved in this
racket. “We have received reports that some hotels located at Boulevard
area are also involved in this racket. We are contemplating action
against them according to law”, said a police source.
Meanwhile, J&K Police have also alerted Punjab police as they suspect
that some of the businessmen might have fled to Chandigarh and other
cities to evade their arrest. “We are not leaving anything to chance.
Whosoever is responsible will not be spared”, said a police officer.
