RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (AP) — Saudi King Abdullah announced Sunday that the nation’s women will gain the right to vote and run as candidates in local elections to be held in 2015 in a major advancement for the rights of women in the deeply conservative Muslim kingdom.
In an annual speech before his advisory assembly, or Shura Council, the Saudi monarch said he ordered the step after consulting with the nation’s top religious clerics, whose advice carries great weight in the kingdom.
“We refuse to marginalize the role of women in Saudi society and in every aspect, within the rules of Sharia,” Abdullah said, referring to the Islamic law that governs many aspects of life in the kingdom.

This is how non islamic the regime of saudi is, when islam gave womens rights over 1400 years ago before Europe even dreamed of such a concept until only a century ago. We have the backward and family saud now deciding women have a right to vote!!! Who will these women vote for yes the same puppets who connected to the tyrannical ruling saud family what did you think they would be independent candidates, be real come on.

having seen the countries in the region kick out the tyrants one by one the family of saud are in fear that they are next. Anyone saying even uff against the saud family will end up in prison and tortured as many hundreds have already been this year alone this is well known, and the hypocritical americans had the audacity to claim this pathetic move was a victory for saudi women!

where is the american mouth on human rights, on the tortured people, the people imprisoned just asking for rights, on the tyrants from other countries living in saudi?
