Fictional characters can be killed, in many ways. You already mentioned one way. Remember DC comics a while back decided to kill superman in the comic books, as it was a declining saga, and created alot of controversy. Ofcourse, they brought him back to life again with a different look. They also killed the Optimus Prime character which some of us grew up watching. Furthermore, you can kill a character by shafting its creator or voice from the company too. Maybe the cleric meant that disney should terminate that character from their lineup forever, hence killing it.

^ or send in a sleeper cartoonist to Disney who writes the story that mickey mouse converted to Islam, became self aware that he was really an image and therefore despicable, and killed himself.

It turns out that most of us sensationalized the news without proper authentication. The Saudi cleric has clarified what he said, and it turns out the whole thing was taken out of context (a trademark of Media in certain aspects)
Here’s his response to this whole issue:
We ought to confirm the truth before jumping around w/out background knowledge of the issue.
