Sam's Club vs Costco!

Re: Sam's Club vs Costco!

I don't really care, I have membership for both. Family definitely prefers Costco over Sam's Club.

Re: Sam's Club vs Costco!

No Sam's Club where I live.

I have been to Costco, just to check out what the fuss is about. It is not for my small family. Yes, even I stock up on non-perishables but I can get better deals at other stores.

I dont mind going through extra few flyers since I do have time on my hands, and buy according to our needs, without wasting food.

To be honest, having worked in retail, I know it is not the prices or helpful associates that brings them business. It is their return policy!

People complaining about unfair wages, lets see you complain about the stuff that makes it to garbage because people bought too much or didn't like the product after trying one package from the whole case.

Retail businesses try to sell stuff at clearance prices only upto a certain point. Many returned items also go straight to garbage, especially perishables. All this, when people are dying from hunger!

Heck, people steal baskets and shopping carts, adding to the running costs of the business. How many times do we see people leaving refrigerated items anywhere because they're too lazy to go back? Yep, you are also adding to the cost of the business.

Re: Sam's Club vs Costco!

Costco is way better.
I'm a SAMs club member though, because we don't have a Costco where we live.

We usually buy:
Toilet paper
Paper towels
Laundry detergent
Bakery items
Nuts (much cheaper than regular grocery store)
Fruit (quality is so much better than regular grocery store in my opinion. You don't have to buy fruits in bulk. We usually get just one pineapple, one papaya, one watermelon, box of dates, bag of mini oranges, bag of about 5-6 avocados (excellent if you're making guac))
Salad
Frozen fish and shrimp
Frozen semi-prepared foods like ravioli
Shampoo/conditioner
Water bottles
Towels or bedsheets
Dishwashing liquid/soaps
If it has a gas station then gas is cheaper.

They also have good kitchen items like serving trays, coffee cups, utensils and pots/pans

If I'm visiting family and we go to Costco with them then I always get Costco fries because they have the best fries EVER. (I would get a Costco membership just to eat their fries all year round)

I'm not sure how much we save with the SAMs club membership especially since we pay for the membership too, but it's worth it for me just because of the excellent quality fruit.

Re: Sam's Club vs Costco!

^ what Costco fries? I've never heard of them.

Re: Sam's Club vs Costco!

^the french fries in their food court. They're battered and delicious, but don't have them because they're a gazillion calories 😞

Re: Sam's Club vs Costco!

^ I haven't seen them at any Costco in California! Where are you located? :)

Re: Sam's Club vs Costco!

Costco fries ?

Re: Sam's Club vs Costco!

The Costco where I live is such a pain to shop at. The store itself is nice as in the types of food are unique and the quality is great but I did compare them with Sam's Club prices and on the items I usually get are at a more affordable price at Sam's. Fruits are super sweet. I would like to shop at Costco just because of the quality but the parking and the huge crowd is enough to keep me from going there.

Re: Sam's Club vs Costco!

^ do you only go on weekends? I think all Costcos are always busy and crowded, especially on weekends or holidays. I try to limit my trips to after work or early morning on weekends.
