Salary Question in Interview.

Re: Salary Question in Interview.

i have no problem telling them my base and bonus and say that i expect the package to align with the value I bring, not more, not less, and the total package will include tangibles and non tangibles, opportunity for growth, culture of the place etc, and then non salary tangibles like investment in training, sending people to relevant conferences etc etc. By that if I am way too out of their range, we dont waste each others' time, and if I am below where they want to bring me in, I have already stated that I expect to be paid on par with the better performers in equivalent roles in the company.

Re: Salary Question in Interview.

oh, and there is no shame in saying you are in a role where you are below market value and have backup that has info on the range for the role in the industry sector you are in. but be very careful, u dont want them to throw a different study showing something u had missed in your industry report :)

Re: Salary Question in Interview.

Good. So this company was one of the exceptions then. Thanks X2.

Re: Salary Question in Interview.

Sorry to revive an old thread but I m happy to report that I finally got a job that I love and got it for more than what I was expecting. Also, I had to change the strategy to go for a long term contract job and not concentrate to become a direct hire. Also, reporting here that the IT market in Houston has taken a boost in the past 4 months as I have had about 50 interviews in the Dec 11 to March 12 time period.

Congrats, good to hear.
Where is mithai.
Some fields are growing, the unemployment rate numbers can be misleading at times, because they are looking at an aggregate level not by field, experience, education.
