Re: Saira Khan from The Apprentice adopts a child from Pakistan
This is truly extraordinary; heartbreaking and inspiring at the whole time. Heart breaking because of the plight of babies who have no one to love them, inspiring because it proves there are still people in this world who care for other, there still exist some who will grasp a crying child’s hand with their own and give her another shot at life.
Edhi foundation is of course at the forefront of the social work in Pakistan and I feel proud to have lived to see the great man himself, the selfless and magnanimous man that is Abdul Sattar Edhi (May Allah Bless him). The Edhi Foundation has ever been a shining beacon of hope for the oppressed, underprivileged people of this country and I always had this image in mind, but now, after reading this article, I’m more aware of the length and breadth of the social work of Mr and Mrs Edhi, bringing hope where was none.
I’ve seen people sitting up at night, crying and praying to Allah to bless them with a child of their own. I have seen their pain, yet I can’t say I’ve felt it. Only the childless can know the pain, the hopelessness of their situation and just like we can’t feel their pain, we can not comprehend their happiness when finally their prayers are awarded. Surely, Mr and Mrs Edhi shall be highly rewarded in the Hereafter.
