Of course he will be a hero to Iraq’s sunnis. This trial has nothing to do with that.
He made Arab sunnis cocks of the walk and elevated their status to where it never should have been.

LOL.. you colonial rebels have such little grasp of history beyond your borders. Saddam had nothing to do with elevating the status of Iraq’s sunnis. That happened in the 1920s when Britain, unable to find prominent Shias to support them in Iraq, installed a Sunni royalty into power in Iraq.

The Sunni kings of Iraq of the 1920s through to the mid 20th century made sure that the Sunni community was elevated beyond there it belonged as a minority. Saddam simply continued a policy that was 50 years old when he murdered his way through to power.
