It should have been an execution as directed by the law and judiciary, but turned out to be a digusting show of sectarianism.
There are most likely muqtada supporters in the gov, infact majority of iraqi prolly support him in this point in time, where shia, sunni killings are rife, you'll be hard pressed not to find any muqtada supporters. but that doesnt mean they are in his al mahdi army, nor does that mean they are carrying out sectarian kilings. like i said, the sadrs family were the prominent opposition to saddam as they are to american occupation, and they had alot of support from majority shias. hence why the guy was more likely a moral supporter rather than thing else, or even a victim who couldnt control himself.
But He was one guy for God sake, he was not the executioner and when he were asked to stop, he eventually did. So it was an event that got slightly of control through emotional outburst rather than muqatdas army carrying out the execution as you would have us believe. The gov would not have allowed that considering its ties with america and muqtadas anti american militia.
Thirdly theres an inquiry to be held on the situation surrounding the execution, so it doesnt look like it was planned that way. like i said things got out of control and security wasnt as tight as it should have been, but thats about it. Bar that everything else i mentioned above was pretty dignified, and alot better than he actually deserved. So kudos to the gov for carrying it out so well. It could have been alot worse, but thankfully it werent.
Your point doesn’t hold any weight. The support is rife, and the almost all the forces in the puppet Shia lead government are being run and controlled by the Shia militias heavily involved in ethnic cleansing of the Sunni Arab Muslims in Iraq. It’s natural that the sentiments came out.
Exactly. Support is rife and its natural the sentiments came out. However, you need to make you're mind up, either their militia contolled or american puppets. which is it you cant seem to decide.
you alo seem to be misinformed. The gov is not controlled by the militia. Not even by half.
And secondly there is no ethnic cleansing, there are some sunnis killing shias and shias killing sunnis,...but that is called being on the brink of civil war, not ethnic cleansing. i think you need to get you're definitions correct.
Thirdly, your sympathies for saddam are just absurd. Anyone who sympathises with him is mentally warped IMO. On the same day as saddam died, around 70 innocent people were killed in a car bomb in a shia town, yet we hardly hear anything about them.
These folks deserve our full sympathies and attention rather than having saddam over shadowing everything. He got what he deserved, it was long over due, and now thankfully he's history. And many iraqis, muslims and non muslims world wide are happy to see him go.
But cheer up mate, Im sure there's plenty more tyrants out there who could do with your support right now, thats if they arent having second thoughts after seeing saddam's awful fate. Afterall, he too was America's best friend once upon a time no?

There's no mention for Saddam's sympathy. However, there's no question that the government in Iraq is a puppet government, and without the full backing of the Shia militia, it cannot function. The agenda of the government is to sideline the Sunni Arabs, through ruthless force, and yes it does become cleansing, when the entire neighbourhoods with Sunni majority are forced out through vigilante killings. It can be categorized ethnic, due to the heavy influence of Shia extremism stemming from Iran - Since, all the majority of the Shia thugs in the government sat in the lap of Irani Ayotallahs during the Saddam era, including Sistani, and Muqtada Sadr, and branch off from teh same school of thought.
Don't beat around the bush, or falsify the facts, by facading the true facts - the brutal repression of Sunnis by the Shia thugs.
brutal repression of sunnis? LoL. yeah ok. If you say so. I think you're minds gone into over drive. Maybe you might wanna go join alqaeda folks, with all your shia venom, they'd happily take you in.
that’s it! why resort to personal insults, when you are clearly denying the facts.
Neither, I deny that the vengeance has been directed more or less equally against the Shias in the form of indiscriminate killing. But, there’s a difference. As, it’s not state sponsored, and systematic. Random and retributional. I condemn that as well.
My post-hoosane prediction: the sheeites are going to oppress the soonies and take revenge. The soonies will continue killing sheeites until we have another hoosane (this time probably a sheeite) that will oppress and kill them all into submission.
The sheeites were fools for turning hoosane into a matyr and the amreekans were bigger fools for allowing them to do it.
NEW DELHI (Reuters) -** Thousands of Indians, most of them Muslims, took to the streets in sporadic protests across the country against the execution of Saddam Hussein on Saturday, accusing U.S. President George W. Bush of murdering him.**
The protests came as New Delhi, which had friendly relations with Saddam’s Iraq, said it was disappointed he was executed and hoped this would not hurt the process of reconciliation and restoration of peace in that country.
Thousands of Muslims and communist party activists marched in Kolkata and Lucknow after news of Saddam’s execution broke on TV channels.
The protesters shouted anti-American slogans, burned straw effigies of Bush and briefly blocked trains at Lucknow’s main train station, police and witnesses said.
“This was a glaring example of America’s dictatorship over the rest of the world”, said Imam Maulana Khalid Rasheed, a cleric at a local mosque.
“It is ironic that those who claim to be champions of human rights and justice do not practice what they preach”, he said.
India is home to an estimated 140 million Muslims, the world’s third-largest Islamic population after those of Indonesia and neighbouring Pakistan.
In Kolkata, thousands of leftist activists marched through the city carrying portraits of Saddam, waving red flags and stopping traffic as they shouted slogans against Bush and the U.S. “occupation of Iraq”.
“Bush is the one who should be hanged. They have killed a man without even giving him a fair trial”, said Ramesh Pyne, one of the protesters.** Some Muslims offered prayers at mosques for Saddam’s soul, witnesses said.**
Leftist students also protested in the technology hub of Bangalore while demonstrations were planned for later on Saturday in Mumbai, police said.

Various organisations condemned the execution of Saddam Hussain in Iraq today.
All India Majlis-e-Ahrar held a protest rally against the execution of Saddam Hussain. Mustakim Ahrari, spokesman of the party, said: “After listening to the news on TV channels about Saddam’s execution, people started gathering near Jama Masjid and raised slogans against George Bush.”
The protesting people raised slogans like “Takbir Aala-Hoo Akbar”, “Jo Saddam ki baat karega vo America oar raaj karega”, "Saddam Hussain zindabad,‘’ “Saddam tere khoon se inqalab aayega”, and “Bush murdabaad.”
The rally which started from Jama Masjid with the protesters holding flags in their hands, passed through different areas of the city including Jagraon bridge, railway station, clock tower, Luxmi cinema road, Subhani building before culminating at Jama Masjid.
Maulana Habib Ur Rehman, national president of of the party, said that Saddam Hussain’s execution reflected US hegemony in world affairs. He said that now the festival of Id, which falls on January 1, will be celebrated as “black day”. **"**We will offer namaz blindfolded as a mark of protest against execution of Saddam Hussain," he said.
The district unit of Communist Party of India (CPI) also strongly condemned the hanging of Saddam Hussain. Kartar Singh Bowani, district secretary and Ramesh Rattan, city secretary of CPI, demanded trial of George for the genocide committed in Iraq and other parts of the world.
I dont understand why Iran isnt stopping the Shias from killing the Sunnis
After all, Iran's prestige among the Arab people is slipping when they see the daily killing of their sunni bretherin by iran supported shia death squads.
If Iran wants to be the leader of the Islamic World, then its completely failing at this undertaking much like USA trying to democraticize the middle east
How can iran support hamas and islamic jihad which are sunnis and yet turn a blind eye to sadr's death squads as they kill sunnis ?
My guess is that Iran will support anyone who fights against Israel but will support Shias no matter what even if they are murdering Sunnis in the thousands
you have some of the strangest notions ive come across about the 'islamic' world.
1) iran does not have 'prestige' amongst arabs...theres always this inhibition of the arab brotherhood, and everything else is nothing. So theres always the rivalry b/w arabs and persians hence the iranian prestige doesnt get very far.
2) Again Iran does not want to be leader of the islamic world, it was offered the leadership of khilafa after the revolution but the ruling clergy refused. Secondly, I think most 'islamic' leaders value their friendship with the west to even consider iran as thier icon..their people on the other hand may be a different story.
3) Iran supports palestine in all aspects of development. Defence and security is an important part of survival and progress hence it needs every support it can get.
4) Sadr is an iraqi grown militia and has ground root support amongst the impoverished, iran have no control over them. They may morally support their cause, but not at the risk of going against the gov, or over ruling Seyed Sistani for that matter. Sadr is nowt where they're concerned.
5) As for death squads, i doubt sadr's militia is responsible for them.
