AAG: Pardon me for saying so but that's nonsense. You think maybe we should have staged a shootout on some Hollywood backlot and superimposed images of Saddam firing his six-shooter during his capture?

I'd wage my dollars against your donuts that virtually every minute of Saddam's existence is being video taped, if nothing else to provide evidence that he is not being torured or mistreated by American troops. He should be thankful we let him shower and shave and gave him a decent haircut.

I think your attitude is incredibly paternalistic and is akin to saying "we should not let the Arab masses know the truth about how pathetic Saddam is. They can't handle the truth."

You don't heal, You don't get better, You don't succeed in business, life or politics if you don't get the truth and face it. The Arab masses need to face the truth that Saddam is not and was not worthy of respect and admiration. They need to know that brutal wannabe dictators are nothing more than pathetic little cowards who will lead them to shame despair. They need to look elsewhere for their heros and their manhood.

I am offended by your comment.. They cannot handle the truth.

My point is..

What if the tides were turned and Arab television portrayed GBJ in that manner? Would that not offend you? Even if you weren't a supporter?

It would me.

And yeah..he was a brutal dictator..and guess what..there are others out there..

Lots.

Some that western nations support..and some they don't.

But....Please..... don't pretend like you think GBJ was the moral guy in this war..and weapons of mass destruction are everywhere in Iraq..and that Saddam had ties to Osama-Bin-Laden.

After all...he was our friend against Iran....but god knows...we didn't give a hoot about the dead Kurdish people until it was too late.

And also..

Not as a gung ho hollywood western drama..

But I think..they should have shown him clean and handcuffed.

^If they pulled GW out of a rat infested hole, looking like a homeless bum and felt that he needed to be checked for lice, you bet I'd want to see that picture. Would I be offended? You bet. But not because someone showed me the picture of what was the truth. Rather, because my leader chose to live like that while he exhorted his fellow countrymen to keep up the good fight and die for him.

As between Saddam and GW, I don't need to "pretend" that I think GW represents the greater moral side. That you even have a moment's doubt about this is more than a little pathetic.

Did you have your head stuck down in that hole with Saddam too? You think Saddam was a "poor" guy? After all the billions he looted from the Iraqi people and all the suitcases and boxes full of American dollars he had access too?

He wasn't in that hole because he was poor.

ok when was Sadam captured?

Saddam’s spiderhole photo was taken in August, or what? If you look at the video The fruit on the date palm behind the soldier is yellow. Date fruit grows from March-August and is harvested in early fall. Dates are yellow (ie. just ripened) in August, not December. I’m not invoking conspiracy - I’m just asking: what gives?:konfused:

Where did you see his spiderhole photo? I'd like to see it too.

Also check out the video the showed on Fox and CNN.

Does anyone has any sort of explanation to this??

From article: Their story about Saddam’s “capture”, no matter how fantastic, will be massaged into a believable myth for many Americans by major newspapers, television and Hollywood, just as the myth of heroic Jessica Lynch have been played

My point is..

I don't condone showing a leader of a country in a way that is disrepectful.

And yes.. MyVoice, your mostly right, in what you said.

Absolutely.

It's just that I don't believe in treating or portraying people in an ugly manner.

Doing so IMHO invites ugliness.

And I think the after-affects were pretty ugly and still are.

Mind for a little spin?

What if your leader lived that way because his people lived that way?

[Mind you. Not Condoning Saddam.]

Myself, If I was living in a bombshelter...I'd look highly on my leader living on one also.
