I agree with you. My comments were directed at those who voiced the opinion that Russia is a threat to launch a nuclear strike against the US.
There's lots of stuff to be worried about regarding the Russian nuclear stockpile, not the least of which is accounting for all the weapons and keeping them from being lost, sold or stolen. There's lots of reason not to place a high degree of trust in Putin too. But, the Cold War is over and it is not reasonably foreseeable that a Hot War between the two countries is in the offing.
Issues of proliferation are certainly high on the list of consideration too. I read something somewhere today that Al Baredei issued a pretty grim warning that the world is headed down a very dangerous path unless we get the genie back in the bottle.
damn it, i am gonna root for the Russians just cuz I am sick of the US monopoly over the superpower status.
