Re: Roti's
small size...thin phulka.......wrapped in cloth triangular....placed in that tiny tokri...... looks fancier..
Re: Roti's
I like and make #1... that's how it was always made in my parent's home. At my in-laws they make #3.. basically I like it thin so both work for me. and yea straight on plate, no folding.
I do like thicker paronthas though :D

Paki hui roti
Re: Roti's
Thin roti, either size, doesn't matter if its folded or straight on it...tho normally I take it from the tray and fold it and put it on my plate next to salan.
Re: Roti’s
umm thin either size 1 or 3…doesn’t have to be folded or anything fancy.
Question isn’t phulka same thing as chapati…because my chapati phools like the picture in this thread? ![]()
Re: Roti’s
thin rote size of a big parata twa
Re: Roti's
Sazzie, here's the trick ... when the roti is done nearly 40% on one side .. flip it .. and when its done nearly 50% on that side , flip the roti ,remove half the tawa off the flame and start rotating the roti ... so half of it is on the tawa and the other half directly on the flame ... you have to do this quickly , and you will notice it will start puffing up ... then flip side and do the same flame thing until its fully puffed up ...
It will require practice ... but once you get used to the rotating the roti half on tawa and half on flame ... you will see wonders :@:
Thanks Chick :) i will deffo try this
Re: Roti’s
**it is kinda but the difference lies in the the way it’s folded, thinness and the size of the phulka…it’s twice as thinner and half the size of a chapati. the most important difference, however, is the way it’s folded. the phulka is pressed down at 90 degrees to the seam and then it becomes oval shaped.
there is another kinda chapati called the ‘roomaali chapaatii’ which is huge and very thin and folded twice at the median giving it a triangular shape.**
Re: Roti's
like Khalil KhaaN FaaKhta picture that is the perfect roti for me :) bubble roti that splits in two. plate size unfolded, thank you very much.

**they are called...gol paraaThaa [round], chaukor paraaThaa [square] and tikon paraaThaa [triangular]...taste wise they are all the same. paraaThaas can be regular or stuffed, layered or simple and fried in vegetable ghee or asli ghee [clarified butter].
there is one paraathaa that i used to have at Aligarh annual Exhibition [numaa'ish] and that was unique. it was gigantic [at least 2 feet in diameter], very crisp and loaded with asli ghee. i remember my entire family used to eat from just ONE paraaThaa...it was quite a sight to watch them fry those paraaThaas :) amazing! crowd watched them cook those paraaThaas :)**
it was sold by weight...usually about 3 kg each :)
