i have a samsung captivate (att version of galaxy s 1). The GPS on it is crap i.e. worse than my ipod touch so forget the iphone.

I might switch to straight talk in the future, so any hope for me since I want to be able to use my GPS? I have used samsung restore tool (failed fixing the location) and GPS status toolbox was going on and on for 15 minutes but nothing is happening. I am open to root it if I can get a stable ROM. I think it also happens on the S2 so it is something to do with android.

If this can't be fixed, then I don't know how android can be superior to iOS or windows phone. At least the windows phone worked where it was supposed to work.
