PcG I agree with some of the points you have raised, the taliban interpretation of Islam was most draconian and backwards, they imprisoned their females within the houses, they were not allowed to work, schools were shut down, female teachers were banned, hospital doctors (females) were harassed and many left the country as refugees, there are still literally thousands of Afghan women living a very difficult life.
In my opinion, nation building starts at home, regardless of the society one lives in. Muslims should be able to grow up with Islamic values and live in peace and harmony with people of all faiths. In the case of Pakistan, I believe the presant Government has gone a long way in addressing the widespread corruption within the society, I believe there should be no room for the religious fundamentalists within that society as they are only interested in destroying the racial haromony within the community's. Pakistan must remain a free society for people of all faiths and cultures not a saudi style governance with a very totalitarian interpretation of Islam.
