ok you ASKED for it.
I was a newly minted graduate with a job in NYC. Had to commute via Penn Station. One night the trains were all delayed and I was milling around waiting for a train. A movement caught my eye, I looked over and there was this BUG, big as a cadillac with hairy legs and red eyes (ok well red eyes is exaggerating but still). I walked over to it to see WTH it was, followed it around, I mean I had never seen or imagined a BUG could get THIS big. I noticed that some of the vendors in the area were laughing at me so I asked one of them "what IS that thing???" and was told its a cockroach. I almost fainted.
THEN flash 10 years ahead....I get my apartment in manhattan, settle in and now i'm an "uptown girl" all happy and proud of myself. Second night in my pretty new place this THING crawls out from under the kitchen sink and is whooshing thru my living room rug. Literally, this gross thing was big and heavy enough that when it moved its legs thru my thick (new) carpet, it made a WHOOSHing sound.
I was so freaked out that I called the super, threatened to move out and told him that this thing was so huge that it should belong to the ANIMAL kingdom not bug and how many can I expect and should i move out tonite. He came up right away and sealed off the pipes under my sink and guaranteed that it wouldnt happen again but I still have nightmares about these disgusting things/
