thats why if someone is going for arrange marriage, "checking out" guy or girl should be informal. No need for guys's mom/sisters/relatives to visit girl's place 1000 times to stuff their tummies with samosey, pakorey, methiee only to reject the girl later on.

question for the girls: would you reject a proposal if the guys sister would have some sort of mental and/or physical handicap, which would mean he would be the caretaker for the rest of her life? (this is different then taking care of ur mil)

No i wouldnt. Because Allah give you responsibilities he knows you are capable of handling. So i wl take it like that and who knows if you get married in a perfectly healthy family but sooner or later something happens to either one of them? Then what?

And what ur saying about us being capable of handling it, my question was more if you look at a proposal wud this be a minuspoint? these days rishta is almost same a as doing business...

so, it's perfectly find to reject a guy based on his income, education etc but it's a big deal to reject a girl b/c of her looks?? why?
before you go on to say income, education play a major role in marriage but so do looks, attraction is very important
if a guy/family wants a girl with pale skin, no glasses, slim etc then why not
