I got a very desi ring - yellow gold, no stone type. Told the fiance that I didn't like it and he probably won't see me wearing it. He was ok with that. Told him about the concept of the diamond ring but it totally flew over his head (lol) Now it really doesn't matter because the ring just let's others know you are married. When I get a chance, I might drag him to a jewelry store and make him buy me one but until then who cares :) It is pure materialism and really doesn't matter.

I got an engagement ring and a wedding ring. Both are silver and big. I don't wear either one of them, frankly I don't even know where they are. They feel odd, especially when typing. Usually when people find out that I am married, they find it very unusual that I don’t have a wedding band. Only Allah knows what they think about me. Anyway, I take the opportunity to tell them how Pakistani/Muslim men are not accustomed to wearing jewelry.

i wanted my husband to pick it himself and he did. people told me it was a bad idea because guys have bad taste but he ended up proving them wrong by getting me a beautiful ring. what makes it so special is that he chose it himself. :love:

i dont really mind... but theres a certain type i totally dislike and i take every opportunity to inform him of that.... ie. stand at a jewelerry stop and indentify which one i dislike "i doooo not like this particular shape"
other than that, i dont care about the size of the ring or where its from...

I know it will probably be a plain gold or emerald stone ring…In any case, I don’t care about what it will be made of coz I really don’t like wearing rings and have lost plenty of them at weddings and parties..

Aishaa - my sister was the same way, she got her diamond and trip to the Bahamas because she insisted on it. I guess if that is what you want, then you'll get it. I just don't wear or like jewelry in general.
