Resume Questions..

Re: Resume Questions..

B-in-B, regarding lying in your resume. I am assuming the advice is in jest, however, here's my position on this: Don't!

Not a good idea.

When I interview people - fresh or experienced - in 100% cases, I focus on their resumes and if they can't explain appropriately their own experiences/projects etc, I know that either they are an idiot (who don't know what they are doing) or they are untrustworthy liars. You won't believe how many times, after the interview, the interviewee emailed me back to say "I am so sorry - I should have better prepared my own resume!"

Creative embellishments of your experience and skill-set is one thing, but be prepared to discuss in detail any thing that you put on your resume.

Just my $0.02

Re: Resume Questions..

your 2cents are worth my 100 bucks

yeap i would definately keep my bongis within my grasp.. utni choro jitni pakar saktay ho :k:

Re: Resume Questions..

I agree with Faisal on this… embellishing is different than lying.

For example, in one of my very first ever jobs while in high school, I used to work at the library desk just distributing material and managing basic recordkeeping… rather than saying that I was a “counter clerk” , I’d put this as “information desk associate”.

Using buzzwords to give a face-lift to your resume is one thing... lying to include experience that you don't have, or exxagerate that you do have is different and certainly not recommended !

Re: Resume Questions..

GPA, hmmm
I dont think I have put GPA on my resume since like my first job.

Re: Resume Questions..

ditto... I've actually never put my GPA on my resume'... even though its always been pretty good.

I think its mainly for entry-level jobs straight out of undergrad / little other experience to show...

Re: Resume Questions..

Can I post my resume here for review from you experiened guys?

Re: Resume Questions..

go for it :k:

Re: Resume Questions..

We only use GPA for fresh entry level grads, where pretty much the only thing that differentiates most of them is their personality, GPA and any relevant projects they have done in school.

Re: Resume Questions..

Other work experience
will be a good title, a way to include unrelated but useful work experience.

Re: Resume Questions..

well my conclusion is this .. wether it be functional or not depends on the person receiveing them.. he might like it one way he might not like the way most others might.. it just depends on the person.. and hence depends on your luck…

Re: Resume Questions..

What i suggest in this case your resume start with ;
Summary : Put maximum stress on which you want to highlight eg ..Three years of Functional experience in the Implementation of SAP on PM,MM module with live testing " ....
After the Last job should come first ....
You can send me urs i can modified as this is one of my faviourite job....
