A person calling himself a religious person first needs to show that he is after the truth only and his intention is not creating fitnah in the name of shaitan.
Before accusing Iran of intolerance towards Sunnis, one needs to see who is the biggest enemy of Iran at this moment? It is Israel. And yet Iran has 5% Jewish population who neither complains about religious intolerance nor is willing to leave Iran for Israel, even after so many frustrating attempts by Israeli authorities.
So if Iran is not even intolerant towards 5% minority which shares same religion as its arch enemy then why would Iran be intolerant towards another minority even less than 5%, who Iran calls brothers in Islam?

I don’t think Israel is an arch enemy to the Iranians.

Ayatulla Khomeni bought weapons from Israel directly against Saddam Hussain in the Iran-Iraq war (Iran contra scandal), so it means Iranians and Israelis both are doing taqiyyah in their apparent rivalry.

Don’t forget that Iran was also a partner of the US along with India and Russia against the Taliban regime. They were planning an attack on Taliban before 9/11.

So if you want to understand the Iranian policy and mentality, look at them through the glasses of Taqiyyah.

Also, Israel is an important buyer of Iranian oil through the international market!
