what if he does not tell her and keeps the faith to himself while outwardly remaining a muslim? see its not black and white all the time. there are so many grey areas.
but that would be a different thing altogether. See piety and closeness to religion is a whole spectrum. But all of these, no matter how non practising they might be..still consider themselves Muslim and believe in Allah (to some extent) However an Atheist openly renounces from religion and tells that he/she does not believe in the existence of God at all. And IMO the wife/husband are the first ones to know about this even if accidently. Faith or absence of faith isn't easily hidden by one's spouse.
