It's about how historically - every attempt to consolidate power and religious authority in to the same hands has led to a bankruptcy of the moral capital of that elite ... because politics is about compromise.
Also the persons of history who are recognised for high moral capital in both Sunni and Shi'a traditions were those who were persecuted by the state.
It is an interesting discourse that totally changed my thinking regarding power.
