Redoing your wedding

almost all of the would change things gave me idea of things i wouldn’t want at my wedding…

i’ll make sure:
i cut my own wedding cake and eat it.
not hand over camera to a kid
eat my wedding dinner
walk around and talk to everyone
n enjoy each and every moment I.A
:phati:

:rotfl:

Re: Redoing your wedding

there are indeed lessons to be learned here for the new brides and grooms.

Was just going to say that!

I am most defnitely eating my own wedding food.

Re: Redoing your wedding

Ok im not married married but i had my nikah function so i guess that counts coz i still had a huge function

I would have not let the beautician screw up my foundation and look like a china doll
I would have made sure the hotel had decent chairs for me and fiance to sit on
I would have not left my dad incharge of the girls side video of the event (it was awful thank god fiance's had a decent copy of the event)
I would have thought of hairstyles before letting the beautician make it agonising for me to comb my hair
I would have got my fiance's hair cut
I would have got the camera man to film me coming out of the car
and i would have also made him film the dances at the end of the function
I would of had let my cousin feed me more than 2 spoons of food (food was yummy)

I would have still got my nikah done instead of an engagement
I would have still used the same nail polish on nikah and function in the evening (I loved my nails xD)
I would have left even later to get to the parlour as i was LMAO with my cousins at the women who were dancing
I would still cry on my nikah
I would still have bought the same clothes (altho im sick of looking at them now lol)
I would have still kept my cousins to do my mehndi (felt more special)

Guess i still have an opportunity to fix it all =D

jinx :) If you plan to eat at your wedding then don't wear a NATH.

Re: Redoing your wedding

Girls who didnt eat their wedding food -what did you eatthen??? You mean you didnt eat anything at all all night??

Re: Redoing your wedding

I couldn't eat during the event because the stage was packed with people wanting to meet us.. it was so chaotic. After everything was all over, my husband and I headed over to our hotel room and chilled with my cousins, siblings and friends till late eating food. It was so yummy, noone minded eating it again! Second time around though, I definitely want to eat when everyone else is.

Re: Redoing your wedding

Change:

  • I'd do it in a diff city... like in my city... instead of in hubby's city, so i'd have my more friends/family there....
  • wait a few more months to get married
  • definitely pick my own outfits for all 3 days (cudnt go shopping for my stuff, so my relatives got my dress--i love it when I look at pictures but i always cant help thinking i would've gotten something different)
  • lost a zillion pounds beforehand
  • kept my makeup neater, pack a matching lipstick
  • get a better manicure/pedicure, threading etc
  • made sure that i got to eat
  • get a better hall.. (though that wasn't anyone's fault..it was the only one available on such short notice), better decor? maybe
  • get a better cake... am so sick of the typical desi style cake that everyone gets....bleh
  • not cried so much that i ruined my makeup and took out my nath in th car after the rukhsati cz i dint know there was gna be rasams after =|

Keep the same:
- my mehndi
- my makeup

- fotographer was good, though I would have changed my poses

Re: Redoing your wedding

I’d do EVERYTHING again… and have it done my way rather than some 3rd persons :snooty:

I’d still wear red/maroon, but the way i wanted it to be… not the designers.

Re: Redoing your wedding

No shaadi yet, but had the nikah ceremony. Hopefully these "mistakes" can help when the shaadi comes around?

Things I would change:
Too much gel in my hair
The MUA painted my face white (thankfully it didn't show in the pix because the flash was off)
Get the suit a week before from the in laws (rather than a few days) to have it altered---i had to have my cousins alter it very roughly the night before the nikah
Get a nice manicure (the lady did a terrible job)
Get a professional photographer
Not wear those stupid plastic tinsel necklaces. I don't have even one pic with my fiance without those haar. Our clothes were all covered up with those ugly things.
No one fed us mithai :( It would have been nice if they remembered

Things I'd keep
My mehndi
My outfit colors (gold shirt and dupatta, maroon shalwar)
My stage and decor
The menu (even though I didn't eat anything, but the guest enjoyed it. I wasn't hungry anway though)

I didn't eat anyting midnighteyes and I still hear from people that my wedding food was phenominal. :(

We had leftovers but the food was cold and I was straving and hubby had to call room service.

Re: Redoing your wedding

i would still do all my flowers/decor.
i would still get the same photographer
i would still get the same cake and eat for 4 days straight after the wedding :)
i would still get the same dress..but maybe change it to a gharara
i would still invite 150 people
i would still do the same mehndi design
i would still enjoy the food upstairs in the hotel suite..(the hotel staff was nice enough to set up a gorgeous cart with flowers, sparkling juice, a generous slice of our wedding cake and plenty of our wedding desserts...yuuummmm.
i would still do my own makeup

and of course..i would still marry the same man over and over!

Re: Redoing your wedding

chanda_kh - you did your own bridal makeup! AWESOME

Re: Redoing your wedding

yep! thank you :)

Thanks njgal for opening up this thread... hubby is not willing to do it over again... :( and I so wanna do it just once more so I can stop buying heavy outfits trying to make up for what I missed out on ....on my big day...

Things I would change:

I would get pampered for 2-3 days straight
I would spend more on my wedding dress (get something heavier)
I would do another henna artist
I would like to uninvite the ones who cornered me into inviting them.
I would change the dress of my valima,
I would change the venue of the valima
I would not focus on setting up the apt but focus on me... (that is the part I did not do and I regret it soooooo much now)
I would lose the weight I should've lost
I would have my dad give me away...
Spending so much on my hair that wasn't even visible.
Not dancing with my hubby
Valima feeling more like a dinner rather than a party
The valima set
The wedding sandals...(damn spent so much on it and now I can't even wear it)
Nikah dress, make up and hair... (it was hideous, wish I would've spent money wisely. I was naive and stupid)
a little bit more time between nikah and rukhsati ...that way we could've had a honeymoon... travelling after that phase just isn't the same somehow...

Things I wouldn't change
The guy :)
The colors of dresses
The photography and the venue
The cake :) it was yummmoooooo
The food was excellent
Not having a mehndi or maayoun
Spending on my makeup
Dancing a few steps with a friend
Making sure me and hubby got fed on our wedding night :)
The venue, the stage, the setup of the hall
The makeup, it was bloody gorgeous
The rukhsati from home..
Giving importance to my family members :)
Spending time with them instead of mehndi maayoun...

I guess this is it.... ahh if only hubby would agree to do it just once more.... njgal at least ur hubby will come (even if its in shorts) mine refuses to attend ... lol

:) sadi
