Recipe of Egg Pudding with Caramel Topping

ok all of u guys sound too confusing to me...so what exactly is half and half? i guess its cream..but i dont find any cream with this name in dubai as i live here..so what could be the best alternate? should any low-fat cream wud give that much awesome results? or whatelse can do the job?

You can use any kind of cream...low fat or full fat or you can even use whole milk. Sometimes when I make flan, I only use whole milk, other times I use equal quantity of milk and half n half creamcream and other times just half n half cream. Every time it came out great. Just make sure whatever cream you use is in liquid form and not whipped or thickened one...

ok thanx for such a detailed reply...plz tell me what do u mean by heavy cream? is it whipped or thick cream ? which brand should i go for?if i dont find heavy cream whats the alternate?

also 1 tbs vanilla equals to how many tsps of vanilla extract?

1tbsp of vanilla = 1tbsp of vanilla extract.

If you are in UK then accoring to Xenophanez half n half cream in UK will be called half cream. I am not sure what it is called in pakistan. It is the kind of cream that cannot be whipped. It will be close to one of those creams you can use in coffee and tea, so I all I would say is go and check your local grocery store. You will normally find them in the milk freezers....

Guys, feel free to substitute as others are suggesting. I have found this recipe to be very finicky. If it's overcooked, if the temperature is raised, etc, it still comes out like flan, but it does not come out as its creamy best.

ok thanx again...rather lots of thankx..i dont need to know what its called in pakistan my dear because i am in dubai not in pak....i am asking about heavy cream...i.e whether its thick cream simply or the whipped one..or the name is simply heavy cream..ohh god..!!!!
