Shahnaz Sheikh was left in
Re: Reasons behind India’s recent success in World Hockey
Thanks. I recall he was a forward.
India’s left in I think was Ashoka Kumar. A bit too selfish a player. But I digress.
There was a player starting with H at that time for Pakistan.

The best part about Moin’s comedy was that he could make people laugh without having to resort to vulgar, sexual or swear words or without degrading women (as most comedians do these days). His humour often had doube meaning. I call it educated humour.
First part is funny too.
The whole studio 2.5 series was brilliant. Him and Anwar Maqsood (host) formed a great pairing on TV
As doctor (Picture quality not great though)

Re: Reasons behind India’s recent success in World Hockey
Great run but very poor commentary! no josh whatsoever..
Even flying horse would have been proud of this excellent run by Shahbaz Ahmed, nicknamed The Maradona of Hockey. Goal scorer is Kamran Ashraf, great combination both. I believe this was 1994 World Cup in Sydney
Re: Reasons behind India’s recent success in World Hockey
That was great to watch

Hockey was so fun when it was played on Grass.
Indian subcontinent advantages were short pass , dribbles and sprints - they all got negated once astroturfs took over.
Hockey used to be such a popular sport in the small towns , rural settings , services - crowds used to throng local matches.
My indian hockey heroes were Zafar Iqbal, Ashok Kumar,Melwyn Fernandes,Pargat Singh,Thoiba Singh,Dhanraj Pillay etc etc
I and my friends used to envy the Pakistani lineup from the 80s-90s - We were all huddled up watching the ASiad in Delhi in final. Pakistani team thrashed India by 7-1 - most painful of all memories ![]()
