You may not consider it a closed culture, but it is a highly patriarchal shame-based culture-- which is even more detrimental to women's safety.

Sexual morality in consideration of cultural dress differs in many societies. What is moral is decided upon by the people of that culture. You seek to judge another culture per the values of your own, when you fail to understand relativism. The world does not share in an objective moral standard pertaining to dress; it is highly subjective.

Rape and non-marital relations are most certainly two different things Non marital relations are consensual, rape is not. Rape is considered soul murder. It is the worst crime to commit on any person-- even worse than murder (as backed by Allah-- oppression is worse than death).

Do not ever attempt to combine consensual relations and rape. Rape is a pseudo sexual crime. The motivation for the crime is not sex, sex is merely the weapon because it is the most "potent," method of violating a person's being (physically and otherwise), and destroying them.

Rape has nothing to do with sex. You do a great disservice to victims when you compare the two.

Re: Ratio of Rape

^ I concur.

Thank you.

Re: Ratio of Rape

If you read and study about rape and rapists, you'll find that the act is not one of sexuality but rather one of control. Its an act of ciolence against women by boys and/or men who feel powerless and the only way for them to exert their ccontrol/power is to rape.

It is definitely under-reported in Muslim countries and even in western countries where their identity is protected. So as far as knowing the actual stats, its not possible.

The thing is to provide support to survivors, stop blaming them and to prosecute offenders. If a girl says "no", then the answer is NO end of story.
