Rashid Latif Finished?

The Game Responds:

*Yeah, and Moin Khan performed so badly in those 2.5 years that he was made captain  ; Think before you type, shmuck. People, That Is All.*

Oh please! Rashid is way better than Moin! And Moin isn’t the hypocrite?

Hope Rashid gets better!

He wasnt capyain for 2.5 yrs, he was captain from Mar2000 to March/2001, Get your facts straight mister or you will be out of the Game. Think before you type, shmuck. Game , That Is All for now!

he wasnt captain for a longer period and he was removed after a long seris of infighting and disappoinmtents from the team as well his performances with the gloves… Keep your record straight! Shmuck..
People . That is All :rotfl:

Saby seems to me that you are a one man bash Moin and praise Rashid band. Rashid cant do anything wrong and Moin cant do anything right according to your postings. Both are good and both have weaknesses. Everyone have their own choices.

This is another case of the PCB putting themselves in a hole. When they picked Kamran ahead of Moin as reserve w/keeper ahead of Moin that amounted as a virtual snub to a proven champ. I have no idea how good this Akram is but can we really afford to go into a world cup with an unknown player? He might do well here, but World Cup do or die matches bring a different pressure. The kind of pressure that PROVEN champions like Moin Khan have eaten for breakfast in past world cups. The idiots who are making these decisions are shooting themselves in the foot time and time again. The time for younsters should be after the world cup - except for the position of openers where we have no decent experienced players who can do the job.

Ehsan bhai, i have favored Moin in my past postings as well and have said that Moin should be in if Rashid is not fit! but sems gus like Game and other guppies calling Rashid and Waqar some really good names , Yep everyone has thier own choce but thire should be a limit of language, shoudnt it be? Well you are mod, you be the judge!
I have said it in the past that im not Agaisnt Moin but i m not in favor of putting Rashid on sidelines on unfair means. If we can stick to Moin during his bad form, why not for Rashid? (plus he is not doing bad at all) I always liked Moin too but some guppies use such a Cool lingo for Rshid or waqar or any other guy that it 'pleases' us a lot! And it Does it allow me to call Moin and other players some cool names myself?? Doesnt it naa? I hope you get my poiint...

I will suggest you say to these guppies what you jusat said to me :)

Unfortunate news, and a sad end for a decent keeper-not a "great" as some of you are saying-he's a decent glovesman-and more importantly a human so I wish him the best.

Latif’s Career In The Balance

Pakistan wicket-keeper Rashid Latif is to consult doctors in South Africa on an injury to neck vertebrae that could threaten his career.

Latif, 34, pulled out of the first Test against Zimbabwe in Harare.

It was initially hoped Latif might be cleared to return to Zimbabwe, but he will now travel home to Pakistan after his stopover in Johannesburg.

Pakistan manager Brigadier KM Nasir said: **"We thought it would make sense for him to see a physiotherapist and a neurosurgeon in Johannesburg, because he had to fly there anyway on his way back to Pakistan.

“He will see our doctors once he gets there.” **

**Career-Threatening **

Nasir said the injury, to Latif’s first two vertebrae, affected him most when he was crouching while keeping to spin bowlers.

“It can be classified as a career-threatening injury, that’s why we’ve sent him home,” he said.

**“We are doing our utmost to ensure that he is fit for the World Cup next year.” **

**Latif has taken 102 catches and made 10 stumpings during a 34-Test career, as well as scoring 1277 runs. ** :k:

The former Test captain was replaced in Harare by 20-year-old debutant Kamran Akmal.

Nasir said Pakistan will persevere with Akmal for the rest of their southern Africa tour, which includes another Test and five one-dayers in Zimbabwe and two Tests and five one dayers against South Africa.

**“He is a very agile wicket-keeper, and a very spirited young player,” **Nasir said.

Lets hope he becomes healthy, I would hate to loose another player.
But it gives a perfect chance for Moin Khan to make comeback.
I wonder if this Rashid being injured is being a little exaggerated by PCB, so they can keep him off international cricket.
Just like how they covered up the whole Youhana fiasco in Kenya and also how they told the media about Saeed Anwar backing out eventhough it was them who dropped Saeed for the Australian series.

I said he was a decent gloveman. Read my post carefully.

He wasnt great, greatness comes with accumilation of success over a long period of time. Such a Marsh, Healy or Knott. Gilchrist too is not a "great keeper"-although great kpt/bat.

Rashid is world class, granted. I just hope you brothers wouldnt take every comment short of "he's the best ever" as an insult.

Stop being paranoid, no one ever disagreed with you about Rashid not being the best.

He maynot be the best of all time but he is definatly the best wicket keeper in the world.

Agreed, he will come no where close to Gilchrist being a great allrounder but just talking about wicket keeping abilities, than he outclasses the others.

I disagree (shocking huh?), i think Boucher is the best glovesman in the game at the mo. Doesnt drop too many.

I geuss when it comes to his career now it will be a policy of “Ration Latif”.

:rollin:

Also this could be a Radish like bitter end for him.

The Game Responds:

*I hope this isn't just another publicity stunt carried out by the honest and sincere Mr. Latif(God, we have seen that cr*p before). I hope he is gone for good. Time to welcome Moin Khan back into the team, shmucks. People, That Is All.*

*There is a God, and he listens to me. We don't need his punk ass in the World Cup; we have Moin Khan ready to go. Allah always punishes the hypocrites; Rashid, I hope this is yours. People, That Is All.*

Watchout! you just regarded a Muslim without knowing his true belief towards Allah SWT as a hypocrite. Howcome so many hypocrites got away with their hypocricy. I strongly urge you to take your words back about a Muslim whose belief you don't know, whose heart you can't read.

Cant you muslims keep religion out of ANYTHING!?

Sports, religion-whats the correlation here?

If Rashid misses Zimbabwe tour, we could get him against South Africa. Let’s hope everything works out in favor of him, Inshallah!

Rashid Undergoes Medical Examination

KARACHI: Pakistan’s senior wicketkeeper Rashid Latif reached Johannesburg on Monday afternoon to get a second medical opinion on his neck and back injury which has forced him to miss the first Test against Zimbabwe and could rule him out of the tour.

“I am here to get a second opinion from a neuro surgeon. Coach Richard Pybus has said that if doctors say I need just a few days rest to recover from the problem then I will rejoin the team in Harare,” Rashid told ‘The News’.

“But the doctors advise a longer rest of ten days or more then I will return to Pakistan and rest and join the team in South Africa as per the instructions of the coach and captain,” he added.

He explained that basically his neck movement was restricted due to problems with the superficial and Lateral Cervical nerves in his neck. “The second and third cervical nerves in the neck, which also affect the nervous system, have been causing me problems,” he added.

“Initially the diagnosis was a very depressing one and I was told that if I continued playing with this problem I risked permanently paralyzing my left shoulder as the cervical nerves went down to the back were related to the nervous system,” he disclosed.

“But after more examinations it was felt that I should get another opinion from a neuro surgeon in Johannesburg who will confirm how many days rest I need to recover completely from the problem and play again or if the injury is far more serious.”

Rashid dispelled the impression that he had known about the seriousness of his injury before the team left for Zimbabwe. **“Look I have had this neck problem for some time now but it gets better with a few days rest. I never knew it would get this bad. I flew to Zimbabwe with the intentions of playing in all the matches, but it was not to be.”

“But to say that I did this on purpose or to keep anyone (an obvious reference to Moin Khan) out of the team is not correct,”** he insisted. Rashid said his injury had been under the treatment of the team doctor and physiotherapist who had accompanied him on various tests and they were experienced people and if it had been so bad before the team left for Zimbabwe he would not have been cleared for the tour.

“Any player can have a recurrence of an old injury,” he noted. He gave the example of Inzamam-ul-Haq and Yousuf Youhana saying they had had injuries recently on tour but with proper rest recovered.

**“Inzamam stayed with the team on tour and received treatment does that mean he knew in advance he could not play. When someone has an injury you are always hopeful that with proper treatment it will heal quickly so he remains with the team.”

“I am feeling much better now with a few days rest and hopefully I can get back into action soon,”** he stated. Rashid said if specialists told him he had a serious injury that would not heal quickly, he himself would withdraw from the team and tour.

Asked about the inclusion of a reserve wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal in the team for the Zimbabwe tour, he pointed out it was the decision of the selectors, Board and the team management that the time had come to start grooming a younger wicket keeper for the future.

“And Akmal had got selected because of his outstanding performance at the domestic level,” he pointed out. Rashid said his visit to Johannesburg where he would remain for three days for intensive tests and examination had been arranged by the Board who were aware of his injury position.

“This Board and its Chairman have always been very supportive of players who get injured in the line of duty. This policy is no different towards me.” All medical treatment of players on national duty while on tours abroad is covered by full insurance which has been obtained by the PCB.

Rashid To Return Home For Treatment

LAHORE, Nov 12: **Wicket-keeper/batsman Rashid Latif will miss the entire ongoing tour of Zimbabwe due to his neck and back injuries as Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) retracted its earlier decision and has now opted to use its own panel of doctors for treatment instead of making arrangements in South Africa. **

A PCB spokesman while quoting PCB chairman Lt Gen Tauqir Zia said Tuesday that decision to recall Rashid was to help him regain fitness under the supervision of PCB panel of doctors. Naturally, they (panel of doctors) would have all the opinions of the specialists along with the tests reports of the injuries that would help them constitute a rehabilitation programme for him.

No replacement for Rashid would be sent to Zimbabwe, the spokesman added.

PCB chairman also took a bold step to determine if Rashid was injured prior to his departure for Zimbabwe. PCB will seek a report from Pakistan physiotherapist and trainer Dennis Waight in this connection. If it is discovered that Rashid was already injured before leaving on the tour, he would be liable to pay a fine upto US 1000 under the players contract clause 8.7 which relates to those players who report unfit or is not upto the fitness standard required for international cricket. The team physio and doctor shall determine the amount of fine.

It was learnt that Rashid was unfit before the tour and it was also in the knowledge of captain Waqar Younis and PCB too. **This is evident from the fact that a second wicketkeeper, Kamran Akmal was included in the Zimbabwe tour, a decision taken after many years. **

**Rashid who has been touring with the team for the last one year as sole wicketkeeper could do the job singularly in Zimbabwe too if he was fit. The decision of not sending any replacement for Rashid also proved that lone wicketkeeper was enough for the Zimbabwe’s and Kamran was only included because the first wicketkeeper (Rashid) was not fit. **
