Given that Indian batting failed in England except Dravid who did very well.. I think it made sense for him to go to Australia.
I'm happy with the timing. Let Kohli and Pujara get an extended run now. Please no Raina or Yuvraj in tests.

A great player indeed. IMO he was much better than Tendulkar but unfortunately he played in same era as Tendulkar.

Again we don’t have to put down other batsmen while praising Dravid. The fact of the matter is all three have struggled against Australia and South Africa. And I respectfully disagree, esp. that Inzi was not a top tier batsman. He just did not do full justice to his talent (was lazy!). Inzi actually averages 50 in tests for Pakistan (if you exclude the one-off test between World XI and Australia)

But overall, I would agree that Dravid was a slightly better (not hugely better) TEST batsman than both

I respect Dravid for his professionalism off the field. Something not only Pakistani cricketers but all nations should learn.

On the cricket field he showed more character than skills.
Recent Aussie tour shows Indians will be looking for the next Dravid for a long time.

You cant even put Yousuf and Dravid in same sentence. Inzi , Yes..
Yousuf hypes is because of 2 years of amazing run that he had otherwise he was just another Tier 2 batsman like Younis Khan, Laxman , Azharudding etc.

Best way to compare their records will be to see how they did outside their home. You will see clear contrast.

You can't have amazing run for 2 years in Test matches unless you are a class batsman. A fluke "good" batsman can score for 2-3 series, but 2 years is no little feat.

It was actually one year. I do not think one year of extraordinary run on mostly subcontinent wickets puts him in same league as Inzi or Dravid. For me he is not Tier1 batsman. But it is just me. :)
