Re: Quran+Hadith in Mobile/Handset
Assalam-0-Alaikum
I have one simple question in my mind, and actually it disturbs me alot. These days, mobile sets are equipped with huge amount of memory and they are capable of running almost any application including multimedia players and so on. Quran and Hadith are sacred books in Islam and all Muslims are required to give highest respect to these books. Quran can not be touched without wudou even. So anyone here can tell me what to do if someone has Quranic Verses or even full Quran in his mobile set. People usually carry their mobile sets in washrooms coz they cannot leave them behind ....
My question is obvious i think. what to do if someone has Quran in his cell phone and how to give due respect to Islam related stuff.
Peace reon
This question requires extruding from Islamic sources. If we assume the phones storage capacity to be analogous to a book then your concerns stand true, if we assume the phones storage capacity to be analogous to the mind of the hafiz, such as memory, then we can appoint a different ruling. We don't take books into the toilet but we do take out minds to the toilet.
Generally speaking if the phone is on and in the middle of tilwat then this should be switched off. However, if you want to be extra prudent then it is better to switch off the phone, put the phone away or not take it in the toilet with you in the first place. This is my understanding and not a ruling. If you want a ruling you will need to go to a Mufti.
