Similarly scriptures have been given with the following verses that tell us what or how we should interpret them and Not according to our whims and fancies.
Let us Read!
3:7 He it is Who has sent down to thee the Book: ** in it are verses basic or fundamental (of established meaning); they are the foundation of the Book: others are allegorical.** But those in whose hearts is perversity follow the part thereof that is allegorical seeking discord and searching for its hidden meanings ** but no one knows its hidden meanings except Allah ** and those who are firmly grounded in knowledge say: “We believe in the Book; the whole of it is from our Lord”; ** and none will grasp the Message except men of understanding. **
As such you are not wrong and neither is conveying a day in the sight of Allah (swt) is 1000 years to OUR RECKONING either.

The Quran ask us to refer to people who have knowledge over such matter. Scientist would do quite well.
Kumarakn, God doesn’t do our homework and our research for us. God only point to us where the knowledge is and we need to take the initiative.
