The whole structure is relying on multiple columns but coupled with gas explosions, even a single columns gives way, the entire strucutre becomes unstable.
Much like a bridge, if one pillar becomes damaged, that causes the entire bridge to loss coherence strucutre.
As for Popular Mechanics, if you can find any mathematial or engineering fallacy in what they are talking about, then please go ahead, prove it.
the fact that you can’t speaks volumes. and your rationale is ridiculous. they could not dig a foundation for WTC 7 because it was build over transmission lines and gas lines.
the new hudson yards complex being developed in West side of manhattan is being build over an existing rail line and will rely on a similar engineering principles of pillars holding up the building.
