and Rooney was a jackass, he has done this once before and put the entire team one man short in a critical match.

and england did play better...with one man down they kept portugal at bay and made them work hard.

The team has never had the mental strength to deliver in a shootout, and that showed today also.

As talented as Rooney is, I think his omnipresent idiocy might linger throughout his career. Really stupid.

Over all, a terrible game. The middle of the pitch was wide open after the sending off due to being one man down and tired, and yet the Portuguese insisted on lobbing hopeful crosses - the vast majority of which were misguided. This was pretty discouraging, from their perspective- although they’ll be happy they’re through, of course. Deco is obviously so important to this team. Portugal really missed his presence today, much more than I would have thought. Other than Ronaldo at times, they just didn’t have that creativity to push forward, and more often than not they tried going around England’s defense from the flanks, instead of penetrating right through it.

I have always believed and will say once again that Rooney is a good player but not as good as people make him to be. He is overrated, I am not saying this because of this game.
