Re: Qasr Prayer
Not doing regular Sunnah prayers whilst travelling apart from the Sunnah of Fajr - islamqa.info
This link has a lot of references, and hadiths to support and show practice of Qasr salah. You are allowed to omit Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha sunnahs while traveling in performing Qasr. And 2 rakah fard are prayed because that’s what Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) prayed in Makkah. After migration to Madina, another 2 were added to the salah.
While traveling, Rasool Allah (s.a.w) would shorten the Fard to that of the period of Makkah. Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) never omitted Witr or Sunnah of Fajr, so those are exempt from Qasr, and must be prayed as regular. This is based on what I’ve read from the link above, and from other sources.
Allah knows best.
what i can tell from this source is that you’re supposed to pray the sunnah of fajr and witr. But it doens’t say anything about keeping the maghreb rakat at 3?
