Assalam Alaikum
Whatever the purpose of life for that child who died is only Allah (S.W.T.) knows but the effect of his death is:
Fiqh-us-Sunnah
Fiqh 4.25b
Bukhari reported from Anas that the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: "A Muslim who loses three of his children before they come of age will be brought to Paradise by Allah as a mercy to him for losing them."
Bukhari and Muslim reported from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri that he said: "Some women asked the Prophet, peace be upon him: 'Appoint a (separate) day to (admonish) us.' The Prophet, peace be upon him, told them: 'If a (Muslim) woman's three children die, they will be a protection for her from Hell.' A woman asked him, 'And what if two of her children die?' He replied: 'And (even) if two of her children die'."
Al-Tirmidhi Hadith
Hadith 1754
Narrated by Mu'adh ibn Jabal
Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, "No pair of Muslims will lose three (of their children) by death without Allah bringing them into Paradise by His great mercy." He was asked if that applied if they lost two, and he said it did. He was also asked if it applied if they lost one, and he said it did. Then he said, "By Him in Whose hand my soul is, the abortion draws his mother to Paradise by his umbilical cord when she seeks her reward for him from Allah."
Ahmad transmitted it, and Ibn Majah transmitted from "By Him in whose hand my soul is."
End.
Assalam Alaikum

Sorry being late in reply. I am definately not explaining the purpose of life, but not everyone has the same purpose of life as far as this material life is concerned. But I know a guy .... he did his Doctrate in Law/Management from Harvard and became a very famous person in International Law, unfortunately I dont remember his full name now, but his surname is "Baajwa". Last time I saw him was in March 1993 in a Place called Pak-Patan on the tomb of Hazrat Baba Farid Ganj-Shakar. No one there knew who he was (to be honest he looked like a Malang- her shay say be-niaz), my father recognised him and we went to him. My father asked him, what was he doing there and why did he vanish at once from the international scene. He said only one sentence, "I found my purpose of life to be here, and not on International scene". Before that I saw him in Chicago in 1984, I still remember his house (Villa, I should say), and his shinning Dark Brown 450 SLC convertible. Can anyone tell him, what is his purpose of life? I can think what is his purpose of life but My Father was an Ideal person for me to be like. Though I can never be like him.
Listen to the cry of a woman in labor at the hour of giving birth- look at the dying man's struggle at his last extremity, and then tell me whether something that begins and ends thus could be intended for enjoyment.
