True say…BTW…jus a quick question…if u r a lahori punjaban…as in ur family is frm Lahore bak home and what not…then, have u noticed that your punjabi is different than other punjabis you have come across…especially in brit???

ther are different dialects of punjabi, depends where you are,
if u go furter up north from pindi onwards you get the putwaari or mirpuri dialect with it's variations too.

But the Lahori punjabi is the real deal tho isnt it...i mean technically, in pre-partition India/Pak...Lahore was more or less slap bang in the middle of Punjab....So that being my logic.....Lahori punjabi must be the real one then init...

yeh ur logic works out, but think about this, partition was 50 yrs ago and even before then there wre the dialects spread accross the entire punjab,
you go into indian punjab, they have a variation to what we speak in lahore, you go orth into kashmi areas they have a variation, people develop words or ways of saying things due to their location and the interaction they have wih other people...

scrap the urdu bit, it is from indo- aryan side not the iranian side, but has words from the persian language
