… and I get all the free goodies (free air/vacuum coins) by using my broken Punjabi with sikhs at local gas stations ![]()
I must say, I absolutely love Punjabi music (particularly Pakistani Punjabi music) eventhough half the time I have no clue what they are singing. :)
Thank you all for your responses!
Every language has its own beauty, and Punjabi is one of them!

With you on that one. Half of the cds in my car is punjabi music. My folks hate it but i cant get enough of it. Unfortunately none of it is pakistani punjabi. Mostly uk bhangra which is all hardcore sikh punjabi.
The other day i struck a conversation with a freshy sikh dude right out of khalistan. He had no clue about urdu and i had absolutely no clue about his punjabi. Still somehow we did manage to talk.

Lahori punjabi is really posh. It's sort of like a cross between urdu and punjabi. It sounds nice but sort of mixed up.

Re: Punjabi Language
**i think sikhs use more Hindi words in their conversation while Pakistanis use more Farsi and Arabic words like we muslims speak in urdu as well. i'm NOT Punjabi but i do understand a lil bit.
example:
kia Haal chaal haiN? = Hindustani
kaise mizaaj haiN? = urdu
sab kushal mangal hai? = Hindi
now u see the difference...right?**
Re: Punjabi Language
could be your family friends mix punjabi and urdu together, whereas sikh's speak "tate" punjabi, which means pure punjabi w/o mixing hindi or in this case urdu.
That's it... yehi waja hey... every single language, first or secondary, gets affected by other regional or national languages.
Re: Punjabi Language
its basically different dialects........some slight difference due to use of urdu in pakistan...but mostly its similar....
