Pumping in Pakistan

Re: Pumping in Pakistan

Yes. I think it can be frozen for six months.

Re: Pumping in Pakistan

MAinVA,

I live in a place where I have trouble feeding as well (somewhat similar to pakistan) and for that I got a nursing cover stitched, if you want I can send you a pic of it... I don't know if you could find something similar in stores.... but it has been a life saver ... I can use it in public, sitting with ppl.... in the car and no one knows... maybe u could try that if pumping gets difficult...

Re: Pumping in Pakistan

It's a common practice in Pakistan.. I have been seeing it in my family for around 10-15 years.. my khalas, mami, chachi, baji cousins used it all the time when they left their kids at home for long shopping sprees or to attend shadi/funeral etc.. i mean I still remember when I was 13, I was very hestiant to touch the bottle containing mother's pumped milk so I used to refuse to feed that to my baby cousin..I think I was more of a shy than anything else.. in fact I was talking to my mother few weeks ago how I would leave my baby with her in Pakistan when we go for hajj next year (that is if we have a baby by then inshaAllah) and she was like yeah then start freezing the milk as soon as he/she is born so she has enough supply for couple of weeks.. I think I am so going to do it :D

Don't worry about it.. sachi you can easily do it!

Re: Pumping in Pakistan

^ Thank God there r still some ppl who are open to the idea and where ppl (in the khandaan) are actually usin it.. but i still believe majority is gonna b like ha hai and all that... its better not to tell anyone its b milk like someone mentioned here earlier.

Re: Pumping in Pakistan

you know... its just cuz they dont know anything else... my own mom never thought a baby would refuse its own mother's boob.... she was flabbergasted when my son did it... seeing is believing... just cuz ppl in pakistan are not accustomed to it, doesnt mean they cant be told...

i say do it... and if someone asks or is surprised, its just cuz they havent seen anyting like it... explain it and they will understand... my son hated the direct feeding (yes he was an ass), but he didnt mind breast milk via bottle... quite a few aunties asked bout it even here in denmark and i just explained (yes its pissy sometimes having to explain) but that was my mind set.. they are asking cuz they just dont know.... once my rather detailed explanation (hey you asked for it), they would just be surprised.. and nicely at that... and agree with what i was doing (kum se kum pilla rahi tho hai etc ).... so guys.. its not always negetive :)

Re: Pumping in Pakistan

My in-laws are mashaAllah pretty cool, so I don’t think they would be all hawww haaye :stuck_out_tongue: Actually my MIL likes all the new things I tried with my first daughter :hehe: although I never pumped with her cuz I never needed to so my MIL’s not familiar with that yet.
But this time, I’m definitely going to do it, otherwise I will probably be stuck home the whole time and I definitely do not want to take the baby to bazars in Pakistan.

Automne… I do have a nursing cover/wrap for breastfeeding, but you know how babies make those noises and all while nursing… it just gets embarrassing in public :stuck_out_tongue:
