PTI lawmaker wants Taseer’s assassin freed honourably

Re: PTI lawmaker wants Taseer’s assassin freed honourably

one MNA gives a statement on Taseer's murdered and suddenly y'all armchair analyst are predicting that party will be history by the next elections? the elections were just last month and people of pakistan i.e the voters are not that fickle

Re: PTI lawmaker wants Taseer’s assassin freed honourably

did IK make him take his words back yet?

Hashmi was forced to do so in 3 (4?) days. today its 3rd day of this "incident" i'm waiting

Re: PTI lawmaker wants Taseer’s assassin freed honourably

How ever bad his statement was, at the end of the day it was his personal point of view (nothing to do with the party as such). Do we want to convert Pakistans democracy to fascism where every one can only say those words as desired by the parliament/party heads? If Hashmi was forced to take back his words, I do not support that act too.

Re: PTI lawmaker wants Taseer’s assassin freed honourably

but then it may have very few left sir jee!

this may be just one idiot but PTI faces a big battle in KPK...since pTI came into power, there has been so many bomb blasts in KPK...so many killings but i have not seen PTI leaders in KPK making even as much noise as ANP used to make....because PTI is facing a classical paradoxical dilemma....it wants to negotiate with those killers who are killing innocent people and PTI leaders....but this molvi CM of PTI always talks about bhai chara with taliban animals....PTI has some serious ideological flaws and dichotomy issues and many guppies know that but they are quiet about it.

Re: PTI lawmaker wants Taseer’s assassin freed honourably

This is a personal view of someone.

Note: PPP formed electoral alliance with that group (Sunni Ittehad Council) which vehemently supported Mumtaz Qadri viz a viz PPP’s slain governor. Good example of party policy and no uproar on that.

Pro-Qadri rally held - DAWN.COM

Dunya News: Pakistan:-PPP, Sunni Ittehad Council form electoral alliance…

Re: PTI lawmaker wants Taseer’s assassin freed honourably

It is not just PTI but both centre-right parties (other being PML-N, it is just that they are not so vocal about anything in public) who have many TTP and Qadri sympathizers among them. Don’t forget that many of the lawyers who garlanded this criminal were pro-PML-N

I have never supported let alone understood PTI’s taliban stance. But we must not forget that the people who voted for PTI in KPK (the area worst hit by TTP violence and reaction to drones) in large numbers knew very well the party’s position on drones and TTP i.e. they are against military action. I am all for military action against TTP criminals yet not in favour of drones because of the collateral damage caused by them >> higher recruitment for militant groups >> more violence >> military action/drones. As you can see it is a vicious circle. The US and Pak military have been fighting this nuisance for more than a decade now but I would be very surprised if they have managed to kill even 5-10% of all TTP and Al-Qaeda terrorists during that long period. Nothing short of carpet bombing the whole area will rid us of each and every terrorist. Even then it is a big IF.

Are Drone Strikes Killing Terrorists or Creating Them? - Hassan Abbas - The Atlantic

**"**In my assessment, the ground realities that must be kept in mind in this analysis include:
al-Qaida and its affiliates are on the run due to drone strikes – there is a near consensus on this point among all types of analysts.

Pakistan’s government (both military and civilian) was fully on board, except perhaps for the past year, which means the sovereignty issue was not relevant in many cases.

Mainstream and moderate Pukhtuns in Pakistan were by and large okay with drone strikes because they did what they and Pakistani security forces couldn’t – however, this is seldom expressed in public.

A significant number of drone victims (likely in the 50-60 percent range by local estimates) have been civilians (including women and children) and this in turn caused higher recruitment for militant groups.

The network of local spies who identify targets on ground have their own ethnic, tribal and political vendettas to settle as well, which causes “collateral damage.”

Anti-U.S. feelings in Pakistan increased substantially as a result of this strategy, weakening the U.S.-Pakistan counterterrorism cooperation.
Some of these facts may sound contradictory, and that is because they are. The truth is we don’t know whether U.S. drone strikes have killed more terrorists or produced more terrorists.

The truth is we don’t know whether U.S. drone strikes have killed more terrorists or produced more terrorists.
Regardless, killing terrorists is only a stopgap arrangement. A corresponding and parallel development strategy for bringing the tribal areas into mainstream Pakistan is in dire need in order to empower girls like Malala Yousafzai, who challenged the insufferable Taliban worldview by standing up for education. This inclusiveness has long been the missing component in U.S. policy, and tragically, it remains so. Dismantling the al-Qaida network is a worthwhile goal, but de-radicalization is equally important.
It is not that there has been no U.S. investment in education, but rather, the dilemma is lack of balance in use of hard and soft power. In some cases bureaucratic hurdles delayed implementation of well-intentioned development plans. Inter-agency disconnect is yet another challenge. Pakistan’s malfunctioning counterterrorism policy and entrenched regional rivalries only exacerbate the situation.**"

Re: PTI lawmaker wants Taseer’s assassin freed honourably

I am not a Zardari fan, please don't quote him while replying my posts. He has lost the elections and will no more President of Pakistan after September 2013.

Did IK attend the meeting of two members of PTI who were killed? Does it mean IK was busy in looting? Does it mean IK should be under six feet rather than those who were killed?

Re: PTI lawmaker wants Taseer’s assassin freed honourably

It is not that simple. What IK has done regarding killing of vice president of PTI in Karachi? Two Ptians members killed and this stupid dumb saying release a killer honorably? Why IK has not come up with condemnation of these killings and why is he so much powerless to take any action against the supporter of a convicted killer? Is this what his vision of tsunami?

Re: PTI lawmaker wants Taseer’s assassin freed honourably

“burying daughters alive is our tradition” was a statement of PPP MNA/MPA? and it was blamed on PPP. Unless IK forces this idiot to retract his statement he will continue to blabber idiotic statements later on.

When you are a PTI MPA and PTI is in government then such views are not really taken as “his own views”, PTI must force him to retract the statement/apologize for the statement or kick him out of the party.

Pervez Khattak is a molvi? kahan kahan se definitions aa rahi hayn aaj kal?

Re: PTI lawmaker wants Taseer’s assassin freed honourably

You are not a Zardari fan, please read your posts again. yes he was leading the party of looters during the last 5 years where all that was done for the nation was to fill in the coffers of all the looters he had gathered around him. That is why they have been wiped out in this election.

Re: PTI lawmaker wants Taseer’s assassin freed honourably

IK has already condemned it

PTI MPA gunned down in Hangu - DAWN.COM

And can you not see that IK is still recovering from his injuries? He was wearing a brace or back support underneath his kameez the other day in the NA. That was so obvious to everyone. He needs another 6 weeks for complete recovery, phir jahan jahan kaho gey IK chala jaye ga, aap bulao gey tau aap k ghar bhi aa jaye ga, happy.

Re: PTI lawmaker wants Taseer’s assassin freed honourably

Re: PTI lawmaker wants Taseer’s assassin freed honourably

Which posts are you referring to? I hate singling out one personality because of personal disliking or hatred. Otherwise others are worst than Zardari.

Re: PTI lawmaker wants Taseer’s assassin freed honourably

So apparently last I checked the lawmaker has still not resigned or, as he should have been, made to resign either. Hmm, I am still waiting for* at least* a press conference where he would apologize and retract his statement. I don't think that's too much to ask for. If Javed Hashmi can be made to do that then he can, nay he must, as well. After all, his comment is way more serious and grotesque than the former saying that Nawaz Sharif was and would always be his leader. Condoning and applauding an assassin is unbecoming of not only a parliamentarian of a country but any person who can or should be taken seriously.
