all i could get to conclusion that pakis goin to be camel jockys from now on but better this camel only keep its neck inside the tent of ptcl otherwise camel become a goat jocky!

the simple fact is, private owned companies do well cause they care about the company and its profit, but state owned doesnt care about these things, employees dont give a **** to consumers as they know they are goverment employees and on a permanent job.
so no one cares,
result
less profit, poor service, no competition.
this will improve situation for people on the whole.
but there is another thing on the way. new fixed line companies will be entering Pakistan market to compete with PTCL, which state owned couldnt have done better only cause of monopoly they were earning profit with no rivals, similarly as PIA it was in profit when there was no airline in competition, no ask them how emirates and others kicking their butts as people get the option to choose.
this will change entire telecom sector in Pakistan.
PTCL at present doesnt have any direct threat from fixed line operators at all. but it will be finishing soon when other operator will enter the market to provide same services.
Government job is to regulate and govern not to run businesses.
to regulate we already have got strong Pakistan Telecommunication Authority - PTA watchdog to oversee all telecom companies.
its a good decision to privitise PTCL
the only doubt I would have, where will the money go from this sale? really on debt retirement? or to polititions pocket in name of development.

^ well no..not neccessarily the corrupt but the incompetent..there is a difference lol..corporate culture can be as corrupt as any government. Although I would say don't expect similar successes when it comes to major bids for heavily loss making enterprises.
