Sayyiduna Ibrahim (AS) was commanded to leave one side of his family in that region by Allah (SWT) … For obvious reasons … That being Allah (SWT) was preparing his progeny to be both from Canaan and from Arabia. Two blessed lineages residing in two blessed lands … They were not just left in a desert … They were left on sacred land.
